Complaint Review: Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless Userous Charge for data synced with USB, not over network Atlanta Georgia

I purchased a Palm 700wx to use as a phone and PDA from a reseller for use on Verizon Wireless. I verified with Richard that it can be activated, but have not done so.

Richard said I would need 1 of 3 data plans and I explained I would only be using it to make voice calls, and to sync with my computer with my USB cable, not over their network to use the PDA functionality.

Richard replied that syncing with my computer using the USB cable and not the wireless network is still charged by Verizon at the KB data transfer price.

I can understand if I am using the network's data service, but there should be no fee when I am using my equipment and not using any airwave/cellular signal to sync my data.

This is a clear example of userous fees. I am not using their network to sync and I did not buy the phone from them with any discounts.

Connects on the Backend

I thought it was odd as well but Richard said it still connects "on the back end;" which seems like the only reason it would do that is to transmit the data on how many kb were synced.

I did sync the device and the display repeatedly popped up telling me the phone was not on, did I want to connect. A few seconds after I would choose no, it would come up again.

Makes me wonder if it wasn't trying to connect to report the syncing, even though I have not activated the phone yet.

There is no fee for transferring data from your PDA directly to your PC. There is no way for Verizon to track the data usage. Infact, there is no network usage.

I work for another PCS company as a technician, and I can assure you, they're not able to track data usage from your PDA to PC using a USB connection.

"Richard" is full of it, and they want an extra buck.
