We called Victoria's Bridal Couture to order a wedding dress. In my initial contact I asked for a quote and for them to make absolutly certain they could obtain the dress before we orderd it. They replied with a firm price and delivery date. I then ordered the dress and they collected full payment up front. They then sent a reciept for the order followed by a contract for the order which I had to sign before they would process the order. I signed the contract and recieved acknowledgement of the contract. My credit payment was processed.

A week later the sent me an email stating that if I wanted the dress I must now pay them two hundred dollars extra. They stated that the dress was discontinued by the manufacture one week prior to my asking for the quote and delivery date.

I offered to split the difference between them, the manufacture and myself. Then wrote back saying the increase was really three hundred dollars and the were already eating one hundred dollars of the amount. Either pay the additional amount or no dress.

This place is a rip off. If the dress was really discontinued they should have known that before they gave the price quote and delivery date. It appears they give one low ball price to get you hooked then try and get the extra mony from you once they have taken the order. The order states very clearly that it is non-cancelable after 24 hours by either party. They seen to depend on the fact that no one has set a small claims court for the internet so there is nothing you can do about it.

Distorted truth from a disgruntled Dad about Victoria's Bridal Couture

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Tue, September 09, 2008

This customer decided to write a report here at the RipOff Report, because he did not get his way for his little girl. Since he didn't get his way and received a full refund, this was the only outlet to inact revence. Thanks for the love, here it the truth.

Becca'sdad emailed us to get a quote. We gave him the quote and notified him that the gown would be discontinued by the designer within the next few weeks. The customer then decided later, after it was discontinued to then try and place and order. I guess Daddy could not get a better price for his little girl anywhere in town, then decided to try us again.

As a nice company that we are, we called the manufacturer of this dress and they told us that, yes they could make a special cut for $300, our cost, on top of the original cost of the dress. We then called Becca'sdad to inform him that we could get it for an additional $200, our loss of $100 because we are nice, or cancel the order and refund him the money.

Well Becca'sdad acted like a big tough daddy in front of his little girl, "I think we can make a deal that I will pay an additional $50, and you as a BIG corporation can just write it off." "I am sure that you guys can take the loss with the manufacturer".

Sadly, as a small business, we had to say no and we gave him a FULL refund. Daddy did not want to look bad in front of his little girl and want's to appear as a victim here, but please note, this is no scam as he claims. He did get a full refund in time to get another dress. He was just unhappy that he couldn't get a $2000 dress for below actual cost. If we were to do that, we would not be in business.

Also note that our contract does not read, "that it is non-cancelable after 24 hours by either party". It is just made up by Becca'sdad just like most of the story. If Becca'sdad would like to take us to small claims court after he has already received a full refund, bring it on. I am sure the case would not even make it to the bench.

I sure feel bad for Becca
