Vin Enterprise Vin Enterprises s Car Buying Vehicle Report Scam
"Ricky" texted me to come see my car the following afternoon. I thought it was odd because I didn't check off that people could text me on the Craigslist add I posted. After a couple texts it was clear Ricky seemed to know nothing about my car besides the year, make, model that were listed in the post title, and didn't read my post with very detailed information. He was extremely persistent about me clicking the links he sent me (which I did not do) to run a "VR papers work report", even after I told him I would provide a full CARFAX vehicle report in person. It was very clear this was a scam, and I had to request that he stop texting me multiple times before finally blocking the number.
Before blocking the number I tried calling, and after a few rings the answering machine let me know it was a text-mail subscriber.
During the conversation I also tried to get an email address from Ricky, which was never sent to me.
Also, the links he sent were embedded into text that were clearly trying to cover up what the actual URL was. First noticed this when the .com was separated from the rest of the URL, but the rest of the text was still linked. Then the next link was a random bit.ly and clearly fake.
Side note: After the first couple received messages (that I assume were pre-written), grammar quickly worsened and were inconsistent with the initial ones.
