We paid for the installation of a Temo sunroom by a company named Vinyl tech inc. The home improvement turned out to cause a great deal of water and electrical damge to our kitchen and the sunroom is more like an indoor ice skating rink. The construction was very poor and was not built in accordance with the ny state building codes. The job was suppose to take 1-7 days but they were at our home at least 19 times over a period of three months and never fully completed the job. The roof over the sunroom and the roof over our kitchen (that they had to change to attach the sunroom) is a joke.

The company has been a nightmare to deal with. The site manager/contractor Steve Straley was clueless about the problems even after we pointed them out numerous times. The general manager Daraby Kiefer was completely unprofessional in every conversation we had and had a habit of hanging up on us. We contacted Temo Sunrooms because this is their product. Andre furtah who is in charge of customer service finally called us back after an email and numerous calls and listened to the entire story with great compassion but never followed up with any response and took no responsibility. This sunroom was very expensive but we were glad to pay for it because it was suppose to be done without any effort on our part. Unfortunately we have had to contact three roofers, two electricians, two contractors,an enginneer and hire a company to professionally tarp our exposed roof to prevent further damage to an already damaged kitchen and we still have not fixed the problem.

About Valley view design a Vinyl tech company

#8Author of original report

Thu, October 19, 2006

Thank you J for your comment. In rebuttal I would like to say yes that Valley view design/vinyl tech did do us an injustice. We felt that Temo did too. We contacted both from the beginning without an "attitude". We were calling for help. The fact is we never received help from Scott Lukaski. The last communication was with Scott who said Temo was wiping their hands clean of the situation and Vinyl tech installed the room improperly. Call me naive but I think they should have atleast some responsibilty for their distributor.

You are entitled to your opinion and while you may think we were untruthful we were the prevailing party of a binding arbitration. The arbitrator ruled that we did not have to pay a penny. This was after we received all $24,500 back from Mastercard after proving to them that the product was defection and was installed improperly. Granted there are other Temo representatives and offices. We do know that our contractor Derek and Steve Straley were trained by Temo.

The leaks were more than a gutter problem. They were all over the room, at many connection points and in our kitchen. A roof is not foolproof if installed incorrectly. We were not disappointed because something wasn't done earlier - we were disapointed that nothing was done. I do have to say if Temo beleives in their product they should perhaps investigate vinyl tech's technique and companys integrity.

We handeled this to our best ability. We made phone calls and emails immediately, we wrote everything down, we took pictures and video and we hired the best engineer, contractor, roofer and electrician we could find. Our kitchen and sunroom is completely leak free and repaired perfectly and we are enjoying it very much. We never want what happened to us to ever happen again. We appreciate your opinion and offer all our notes, pictures, bills and arbitrator ruling to you if you are interested. Again, this is not the entire Temo company who failed us but it was our region's office who dropped the ball and allowed their distributor to damage our home and install their product.

A Temo Sunroom The Best of the Best!

#8UPDATE EX-employee responds

Wed, October 18, 2006

I believe the company that installed your sunroom had done an injustice to you. It is not right, nor do I excuse the corporate response you have claimed happened. That being said, I don't believe you have given the whole truth of your experience with the Temo Sunroom Company you purchased either. I wouldn't buy something from a company that couldn't show examples of their work and unbiased references.

Now,I don't expect this letter will change you opinion. My goal is to give fair and balanced comment for my experience with this product. I have intimate knowledge of the process of selling and all of the steps in installing a Temo brand Sunroom. I was an employee in the Temo Family from 2004-2006. It's my believe you did not reach the correct person to remedy the poor installation your dealer left you.

With that said, I would like to see pictures of YOUR House Roof and the top of your Sunroom Roof Pan also The Standing Seam on the Temo Sunroom. Most Dealers will have their employees take digital daily progress photos during the assembly! This way an evaluation can be done down the road if a problem arrises.

Without these pictures, it's just left up people to rely on your integrity and truthfulness. I know for a fact after selling over 40 rooms per year, a persons prep work is a core building block to success.

In my assessment of the photos, I did see Condensation on the Roof panel. Possibly a Gutter has not been cleared out and has backed up on roof. It looks to be winter when these photos we're taken. May be a lot of snow melting, etc. Their (Temo's) Roof Seam system is almost full proof. And Temo does have a Lifetime guarantee on they're roof! If Fact their Walls and Roof is the only Sunroom that goes through a rigorous failure testing battery, of fire, weight, impact, shear, insulation, and Water Resistance. They have Withstood Hurricanes numerous Times in the southern states!

I'm disappointed at the least the something wasn't done earlier. I also don't know your history with the owner/builder in your town. Your Attitude in this relationship can play a heavy roll in how you're served.

Because of the one sided nature of this on-line complaint I give less weight to your argument that they didn't want to help you, and more to the fact that you might be a pain in the neck.
Even if I'm correct in my assumption, it doesn't give them license to give you poor assembly of your room.

If anyone reading this series of letters is unsure of the quality of a Temo Product, Call the Company direct and find their local Certified builder. Go look at the Rooms; it really is the Best on the Market. I'm no longer connected with the Temo company, I just feel proud of all of the GOOD Rooms I have seen and feel the need to balance this one event.

We're all human, and Mistakes can and do happen. It's how we handle them that make the difference. Sad to say, your group didn't live up to what Should be expected. I would not be pleased either.

You hired monkeys with tools, but not a lick of construction experience or common sense

Man, your photos illustrate the point succinctly. Photos 2 shows a few drops, more like a normal leak. But number 3 shows a big stream of water, like somebody was running a garden hose. That has to be from an obvious hole in the roof. How the hell could they overlook something like that?

You seem to have done everything correct before you decided to purchase. Let me ask you. Did you ask for the names and locations of prior projects?

I would have gone over to other homes in the area and talked to the owners to see how they felt after the job was completed. I'm guessing they either couldn't or wouldn't give you the names for their last ten projects.

At best, you may have gotten 1 reference where they lucked out and did a leak-free job. However the fact that the job was completed over a year ago would have been a tip-off. Where are their most recent jobs? Clearly, companies like this sell dozens of jobs every month if they expect to stay in business. Without anything that was completed the previous month, I'd be suspicious as hell.

At least you have your money back. Or, the part that you paid for the room anyway. Lord knows that a disaster like this one causes you so much in extra expenses that you can never fully recoup it all.

You absolutely came to the right place. This huge site has thousands of pages of complaints, so search engines index it right near the top of every search. Do this. Update your complaint periodically. Be sure to use keywords in your titles. Search engines notice and count keyword repetition. The object is to have this complaint come up right underneath the company's own site. That way, it reduces the chances of anyone else falling victim to these construction clods.

I wish you the best of luck in finally getting this situation rectified and achieving the results that you intended all those many months ago!

It is a year after we were suppose to have a high quality and expensive sunroom attached to our house. It is not even finished. We tried to do everything right. We noted every conversation, took pictures and video, got our money back until this could be worked out, tried to give the company every chance to make good, contacted as many people as we could, but our room still isn't finished. We have asked vinyl tech for arbritration in february because we wanted all this resolved. They ignored this for months and then finally after many stall tactics filed.
Unfortunately for us we have a long wait for the arbitration date. Although we did fix our roof and secure our home, there has been a long delay finishing the room because the professionals we wanted to use were in their busy season. We received threatening words from Scott Lukaski of Temo saying we would be waiting a very long time if we didn't do it their way,
well I guess he was right. The bottom line is always research any company before buying.Dont buy from TEMO or VINYL TECH/VALLEY VIEW DESIGN. There are alot of great sunroom companys that won't lie,rip you off, make your life hell and will actually stand buy their product!!!!

sunrooms

#8Author of original report

Thu, August 11, 2005

Its been a long wet year. It is now August and our hassle free, high quality, premanufactured, Temo sunroom installed by Vinyl Tech is still an unfinished disaster.
As an update, we just wanted to bring to light how this negligent company has treated us and how no one wants to assume responsibility for the unprofessional and below industry standard product that they have dumped on our property. Purchasing a 26,000 dollar sunroom is not a decision we took lightly and we regret the first time we saw the Vinyl Tech, Temo manufactured model in the Jefferson Valley Mall. We were hoping for a home improvement not the leaking mess that they attached onto our kitchen leaving us with leaks, mold, electrical, roof, and water damage.
We were lied to from the vey beginning and when construction went horribly wrong Vinyl Tech and Temo both refused to return our phone calls or take any responsibility for the incredibly poor workmanship and the damage caused to our home. We were treated like a minor annoyance and even Vinyl Tech's contractor "Derek" told us this job "is over my head and the roof is too big a job for me!" With this and pounds of caulk on our roof he walked away from the leaking sunroom and all the damage he had caused.
After Derek walked away from the project we were left in a nightmare. Every day we watched as water poured into both the kitchen and sunroom and the electrical outlets and hi hats began popping with the moisture in the roof and walls. Frantic calls to both Vinyl Tech's General Manager Daraby Keifer and Temo representative Scott Lukaski were treated as a joke. Our family was in danger from possible electrical fires and they were not concerned in the least. With nowhere else to turn, we got a lawyer, hunted down numerous professional roofers, electricians, contractors, and hired a structural engineer to evaluate the project. They all concluded the sunroom was one of the worst jobs they had ever seen and a complete rip off.
We purchased this sunroom on a Chase Mastercard and it was the smartest thing we ever did. After submitting a engineer report and numerous professional opinions, Chase sided with us and returned every dime we had payed to Vinyl Tech. That got their attention and they were mad but our proof was so overwhelming they were not able to get the money back. Through our lawyer, we tried to resolve this situation but they have never come out. We kept asking them to work with us and a third party to fix the damage they had caused but as of this date they have not sent one engineer or contractor. We were available for their inspection anytime. This sunroom comes with a lifetime warrantee and that was a comforting thought as we spent so much money for this sunroom and now we realize it is useless and a waste. They do not stand behind this product and they can not be trusted.
We have cleaned up their mess and with true professionals we intend to finally finish this project. There have been countless hours wasted in worry and our family has suffered. We are now going to Arbitration and finally we will be able to put this behind us. We can not wait to show our numerous videos, pictures, event log, and expert reports which truly capture the hell these two companies have put our family through. If you are thinking about purchasing this company's product be careful and at the very least use your credit card and have a lawyer on retainer.

Vinyl tech is also known as Valley view design and they sell Temo sunrooms

#8Author of original report

Fri, February 18, 2005

I just wanted to mention that the company also calls themselves Valley view design.

The company sells other things as well as sunrooms so watch out.

Temo is the company that manufactures the product and uses distributors around the country. They are as much at fault as Vinyl tech as far as we are concerned and they are just as unprofessional.
