VIP Auto Discount Center Rip-Off Charged $45.93 for 2 headlights and to install them, tried to charge $72.00 Mexico Maine
I had an appointment to have my headlight looked at. I went into the Mexico store on Thursday and asked if they could look at my headlight because it would come on over bumps and I wasn't sure if it was a blown bulb. They said it was probably wiring and to bring it in Saturday.
I brought it in and they estimated the wiring and supplies at $51.00. I agreed.
The car went into the shop at around 8:15 and 10 minutes later they called my name and told me it was just the bulb - and they advised me to get 2 for $15.00. I agreed and okayed purchasing both of them. A second later the woman behind the counter told me that the total would be $71.93! I was in Disbelief and thought she was joking. No, no joke! I could have put in those 2 bulbs with my own hands. Thankfully they cut the diagnostic cost in half so my total now- to put 2 headlight bulbs in was $45.93- Still ridiculous but I paid it.
I would hope that when a customer comes in saying that they're not sure what the issue is, that, they would check the least expensive route and provide the customer with that. To my understanding changing a headlight is FREE - that is somthing that they do for your customers as well as windshield wipers and batteries. In my case it cost me $30.00 more for somthing that ought to have been free and I believe in the future I will go somewhere else first.
I wrote this letter to them the day that this occured and have yet to hear anything from them via phone, internet or otherwise -
They also tried telling my boyfriend that his van needed in $5,000 dollars worth of work to his van. we just got it out of our local garage and the end total will be less then $500.00
