Complaint Review: VIP Parts Tires & Service

16 September 2005... at VIPS - had new muffler installed satisfactorily. That was okay for ($85.46)... then the Service Manager came to me in the lounge with a 'whole' LIST of PROBLEMS; in accordance with their new **12 POINT INSPECTION policy. To the 'tune' of ($502.12), which -I declined! Manager indicated that I shouldn't be driving it home. That the MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER needed to be replaced and he had called around-but NOT available UNTIL the next day, for which I made another appointment. I demanded that they replace the wheels - so I could drive it home... while waiting in the lounge, I noticed that there was more time being spent 'inspecting' my automobile. Even though, its of an earlier vintage, it operates very well and the "brakes" are good, maybe -not excellent. I'm ready to leave... signed the papers and left. While 'backing' out in their lot, another customer almost collided with my car, in the rear. Just missed!! ...as I drive out onto the main highway, I noticed that there 'were NO BRAKES', that is... very soft! FUNNY-I had good 'brakes' when I arrived. Drove it a few miles to the Skowhegan Fair Grounds and stopped to put in "more" 3-Dot BRAKE FLUID... nothing appeared to be coming out... but the "brakes" were still hitting the bottom?? I returned to complain about NO BRAKES? ...what happened to them? ...now the RED LIGHT SENSOR was glowing! ....never, has that light ever come on - in the history of owning it. Manager explained that there are 'two rods' inside and something about the O-Rings... to make a long story short-the VIP Mechanic re-installed the wheels and I carefully drove the car over 9miles to my home... My Wife is irate and that's the END of VIP !! William
