I paid in advance, $2,475.00 for a long coat German shepherd puppy from Virginia Grant-Wise. She is a breeder in NC. I am in Massachusetts. I signed a contract stating the $500.00 deposit was non refundable. The dam was bred in March, and was due in mid May. On May 4,2017, breeder texted me that dam was not pregnant. Understanding I lose deposit, I made decision to go to a different breeder. I emailed, left voicemail, texted for a week straight. No answer. I left 3 posts on FB, not because I wanted to, was just hoping she would get in touch with me. Finally I had a former puppy family of hers text her. She then got back to me. My request was to receive the remaining $1,975. ($1500. For pup and $475 for shipping). Was told we had a contract. We did. Contract speaks of deposit only. Was told by breeder "I need some time to think about what you're asking me". The next day, I was removed from her fb friends. When I texted, was told that I left derogatory messages on fb, and that I was threatening her and her family. Not true. I have proof. Was told again that we had a contract. Money would not be refunded. Three weeks later, I go to website and see I have been removed all together from wait list. No puppy, no money back. I have contacted BBB in North Carolina and filed complaint. Also filed with Attorney Generals' offices in NC and MA. Contacted attorney in NC. Unfortunately, it would cost just as much in attorneys fees to go to small claims court as I am seeking to recover. Have filed form with IRS for suspicion of not filing taxes. I do not want this to happen to you.
