I purchased a Visiontek Geforce 3 graphics card for my PC on 9/17/01. Recently a part called a capacitor fell off the card, causing it to malfunction (and also showing the shoddy workmanship of the card). Since Visiontek claims to have a lifetime replacement warranty for their products to the original owner (which I am) I figured no problem, I'd get an RMA and get a new on the way. I contacted them for an RMA, and and after a somewhat aggravating process to prove that you are the original and have one of their cards and all that sort of fun stuff, found out that I have to pay them to replace their defective card under warranty. Yes, that is correct you did not mis-read it - they want to be paid to replace their defective crap that supposedly has a warranty.

Frankly, I wasn't interested in that I'd rather buy better merchandise from a company that will really stand behind their products (and these do exist, unfortunately Visiontek is not one of them.) Given how shoddy their stuff is, I can almost understand it. My point here is avoid this company. There is LOTS of competition out there so take advantage of it, and buy somewhere else from someone who makes quality products and stands behind them.

Bought a Xtasy 9600 less than a year ago. Plastered all over the box is "LIFETIME WARRENTY" Paid almost as much for it as the rest as my computer is worth. You would think for $350 you get a component with a little quality? WRONG!! Most, if not all these cards were defective (the Visiontek technician admitted this to me on the phone and said at one time they had carts full of defective cards filling the warehouse, so many they actually had to get a security gaurd to watch them).

When my card went bad, I waited 2 weeks to get an RMA and then another 2 weeks for them to actually test my card and Visontek finally admitted it was defective. So do I get a new card. NO! Seems that since they don't sell Nvidia based products anymore they don't have any replacements on hand so I'm just supposed to wait. Wait for what? Wait until I just forget that I sent them a $350 video card and they won't replace it. Screw That! I filed a suit against them for fraud, false advertising and breach of contract. If you live in a state that has a pro consumer small claims system then I sugest you do the same. And make sure you tack on a little extra in the suit just because they are a bunch of lying theives.
