I called in response to a radio ad with interest in their "Epiclear" for acne. The radio ad referred to a "free" bottle for shipping cost only. I called and the young man told me after I gave all my credit card info and shipping info that I'd automatically recieve a 6 month supply in 20 days so I would not run out, and every 6 months thereafter also.

I told him I was not interested in the auto shipments, I just wanted my "free" sample, if I liked it I'd call and order more. He said please hold while I get a supervisor, then came back on the line and said ok.

Of course a couple weeks after receiving my free sample, which by the way did not do a thing for my acne, I received a 6 month supply and of course they billed my account.

I have called my credit card company to dispute this and have changed my card number so no more charges could be made. The credit card company recomended that I send the product back "certified" and I would need a physical address for the company, which of course they don't put on their invoice. Thanks to another user of ripoff.com I will be able to do this. I have not contacted the company yet regarding this matter. I'll keep ya'll posted.

Only Employees have positive Responses

I find it strikingly odd that the only positive responses have been from the employees of vision labs. This product has been misrepresented as a special offer, but is based on hiding details of an undisclosed contract that vision labs claims to have covered throughout the ordering process of the sample product. It makes no sense to send a six month supply if the company believes the product will sell itself. Even a three month supply would be more understandable, especially at the rate they are selling this for. Additionally, I have used proactive under an auto shipment program, and they are very reasonable. The product worked just about as well as over the counter items available, however, I was looking for the end all solution. Epiclear is absolutely a rip-off the active ingredient doesnt even come close to the items that sell for $10.00 a bottle.

if anyone has an issue with Symphonix and/or Epiclear, they should probably stop signing up

As a new employee of Symphonix, I cant stress enough the intense training that ALL employees recieve. We are explained legalities of the phone call to ensure that we ALL specifically state the future charges. All future shipping is sent out with 100% customer consent. There are many things that we HAVE to say verbetum for legal purposes. Therefore, there is no reason that anyone has a right to call the company a "rip-off".

So, if anyone has an issue with Symphonix and/or Epiclear, they should probably stop signing up for things that they are too lazy to cancel. Epiclear is a good product, and its a shame that just because someone forgot to cancel a item that they (validly) ordered, they feel its ok to put down the company, as well as, the product. SO....next time, if you dont like the terms, dont agree to them!

This happend to me about the Epiclear.. I was very angry to say the least! I called as soon as the bottles came. I was able to get them to refund my card 1/2 the cost of the Epiclear.
My 11 year old son called the numer on the tv screen.. and then they... "Epiclear" wanted a credit card, he gave my husband the phone and not one time did they say you'll have to buy 6 bottles.. He said you'll recieve a free bottle!
.. grrrrrrrr....
I will not deal with them ever. Why would you need 6 bottles at 150 bucks.. Does not jive...
I told them the same thing.. RIP OFFS!!!!!!

I work for vision labs and would like to clarify a few things said first, all phone calls are recorded for situations like this, we are a full disclosure call center, meaning all terms of the promotion are given during your initial call so that there are no surprises, on top of that, the terms come in writing in your package with your first free bottle. (terms being...in 21 days, we send you a 6 bottle supply at a discounted rate, UNLESS YOU CALL TO CANCEL OR CHANGE THAT BEFORE THEN) In the event that a customer calls customer care and claims they did not agree to the 6 bottle shipment (which by the way lasts only 3 months on average, not 6 and comes out every three months after, not 6) the original phone call is pulled up. If for any reason this information was not disclosed, we would absolutely issue a refund, if it was (and it always is, otherwise the sales rep would be fired) obviously there is no refund due. As far as epiclear "not working"...nothing works for everyone, Im sorry it didnt help your acne, however this product has undergone triple blind placebo controlled clinical trials. We know it works for MOST people IF USED AS DIRECTED. Why else would we spend all the money to advertise the product in newspapers, radio stations and tv (30 and 60 second ads, as well as 1/2 hr infomercials) all over the country? Wed have been out of business a LONG time ago spending that kind of money on a product that didnt work. Nevermind the cost of the clinical trials.... As far as Seths comment about all the other products that conatin the same active ingredient and cost $10.00..yes, absolutely. Most acne treatments contain either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. If you can find another over the counter acne product that has undergone triple blind placebo controlled clinical trials, that not only clears existing problems but clears acne scars and prevents future breakouts, that uses liposome technology to penetrate directly in to the pores rather than just sitting on the surface of the skin, that moisturizes your skin while it fights acne instead of drying it out, that works in ONE step ,and that is clear and odorless for $10.00 or even $20.00, let me know, I'll buy back your 6 bottles myself. Also, there is a great article about epiclear on BestStuff.com, got to the website and type in epiclear in the search box.

When I ordered the product I was told that they would send one bottle at a time. I received six bottles and it cost me $149.95 plus $14.95 shipping and handling. I am about to go through the process of disputing this with the credit agency because the company has stated they will not accept any returns as policy. I never ordered that many bottles, in fact, I wouldn't order any. The product contains the same and only active ingredient that all the other skin care products sell for at $10.00 each. To automatically send a 1/2 year supply is a little overboard, especially with a product that does not work.

In defense of Visiontel Communications and EpiClear... NOW Symphonix

I am a senior sales representative at Symphonix (previously Visiontel Communications). To the woman in the above correspondance, I'm sorry epiclear did not work for you, but nothing works for everyone.

I am happy to report, however, that epiclear does work for most people who use it - as directed. When someone calls to receive their free, full size bottle of epiclear they are always informed they are being enrolled in the preferred customer club and are explained in detail how this club works. It is designed to save them a lot of money.

Processing of the card cannot be achieved until we receive CLEAR ACCEPTANCE from the customer regarding this preferred customer club. When the customer receives their free bottle in just a few days, all of the information regarding this club, and a toll-free number to cancel, comes right with the bottle. They have 21 full days to call to avoid being sent any more of the product.

Often times customers ignore the long explanation we give to them on the phone regarding this program, and those same customers also ignore the written explanation that comes included with the bottle. Our company makes plenty of money from the outstanding results of the product - not by fraudulent credit card activity!

As a long-standing employee of Symphonix (formerly Visiontel Communications) and an avid user of EpiClear for more than seven months, I am proud to say this is an excellent company, and Epiclear is a wonderful product WELL worth the $25 a bottle that customers receive it for when enrolled in the Preferred Customer Club.

Not True!

First of all, we are not able to send out the autoshipped bottles with out clear authorization from the customer. We can't even accept an "uh-huh". It has to be a clear yes or ok. The customer has a chance to cancel the autoship simply by calling our customer service line. This is just a chance for them to save money. By being in the epiclub they get over a 50% savings. They are not under ANY obligation to continue. All they have to do is call one 800 number and they wouldn't receive anything else. So, the person who wrote this letter must have clearly said yes, (we have quality assurance listening to all phone calls), and forgot about it. All of the information on the epiclub also arrives in the mail as a reminder. It comes right with the product. Some people just don't take the iniciative to cancel the product and then blame it on our company. We have had tremendous results with our product. This is not a ripoff!

I was not able to directly resolve this issue with Visiontel. After several phone calls to Visiontel, I finally talked to a supposed supervisor who said they would research the problem and call me the following week, as you may guess, I was never called. I had to dispute the charge on my credit card, and return the merchandise, return reciept(that means I get a confirmation in writing of the delivery from the post office). I would never have been able to accoplish this if it wasn't for a prior ripoff report I read about Visiontel that gave the physical address of the company, as they only put their P.O. Box number on everything, and they always work their way around giving you the real physical address of the company to make a return. Sounds like a real honest company, now doesn't it? Anyway, thanks to ripoffreport.com and my credit card company I did get all but my shipping fees back.

Thanks again,
