Two months ago I searched the internet to get a credit report at that moment, if possible. I have been getting my credit reports for free form Equfax and Transunion for decades ( they give t least one free report per year ).

I first saw an ad offrring to allow you to view your credit report for free right now if one agrees to try their service on a "trial" basis for one week; they offered many different siervices such as Identity Theft protection among others.

I was not interested in all their services; I just wanted to view my credit report, which the ad promised was free---over and over again.

Surely, I thought no one would be stupid enough to try to charge after they their ads promise it is free; people will dispute any fraudulaent charges on their credit card... They required my credit card for a one dollar "service" fee.

No problem with the one dollar.... I clicked the link to get my credit report and I was booted out of their website. Never got to view any report.
I just moved on and went directly to Equifax and the other two Credit Bureaus.

Then, yesterday,I discovered 3 phony charges. 29.95, 59.90, and 99.00

I called MasterCard and found out the phone numbers for the mercahant who billed me for these phony charges.
It was PRIVACY MATTERS, and the girl answering the phone was about to begin arguing with me that their charges were justified. I cut off the argument, said I did not call to debate the matter, and that I would simply fil;e a dipute with MasterCard.

These people had run up my card to almost 200.00 and would have continued running it up had I not noticed it immediately.
