On Dec. 9, 2014 I purchased two tickets to the 2015 Rose Bowl from Vivid Seats. I had been scouting the various tickets reseller sites searching for a pair of tickets between rows 30 to 40 near the 50 yard line. I wanted tickets above the concourse which separates the lower bowl from the upper bowl of the stadium. Seats in the Rose Bowl below the concourse are less desirable because your view of the field lacks perspective; you’re just too low to view formations and cannot see all of the action. Fans in the lower bowl often stand the entire game in order to watch the game. So this is what I ordered:

2015 Rose Bowl - Playoff Semifinal: Oregon Ducks vs. Florida State Seminoles
Rose Bowl Stadium
Thu. Jan 1, 2015 1:30 PM

Section: Section 19 Row: 32

I purchased seats in Section 19, Row 32… four rows above the concourse. I paid a premium price (over a thousand dollars per ticket) for the location I wanted. So imagine my outrage when the tickets arrived and the seats were located in Row 22, several rows below the concourse! I immediately called Vivid Seats to seek a solution to this error. All I wanted were the seats I had purchased.

Vivid Seats representatives kept insisting that these seats were an upgrade, because the seller told them so. I asked them to use their own ticket sales to verify that the tickets in the lower bowl were of a lesser value. I asked them to confirm with the UCLA ticket offices that the seats in the lower bowl were not as desirable as the seats I had ordered in row 32. I asked them to get independent verification of the supposed upgrade. They would not. Instead, they took the position that because the seats were closer to the field, they were better. Absolute horse poo. And I do not believe anyone in the profession of reselling premium sporting event tickets doesn’t know better.

When it became apparent that the tickets I had ordered were not going to be forthcoming, I wanted to return the tickets they had sent for a refund. They refused. What about the 100% customer satisfaction guarantee? Not so much.

Vivid Seats ran the ol’ bait and switch scam on this one. I will never purchase another ticket from this company. They did not deliver what I purchased and made contorted leaps of logic to justify sticking me with inferior seats. Buyers beware.
