Complaint Review: Vivint

Vivint Home Security  They are like the mafia when it comes to their contract - there's no getting out! Provo, Utah

Vivint has this amazing (for them) yearly contract.  If you miss the magic date to submit your written, signed notice (even by just 4 days, as I did), they renew you for another year.  I have called and discussed this with their company three times in the past few days, and each time I ask for somebody who is a supervisor.  I end up speaking with the same young-sounding, very polite man, who just keeps telling me what my fine print states on the contract.  Yes, I can read my contract.  Yes, I understand I missed the date by 4 days.  But I refuse to believe that this guy is the top of the heap at Vivint, and there is no one above him who can cancel my contract.  Yet, he won't connect me with anyone else - he tells me he's as high up as I can go.

What really gets me is how shady they are about it.  I called a year ago to cancel my contract, which is up on July 17 of each year.  At that time, the representative simply told me to call back this June - not by June 16 - just, "Call us back next June."  Had she told me the date, I would have made sure I called by the date, instead of (horrors!) June 20.  Better yet, had she been forthcoming with their list of things you need to include in a written notice of cancellation (you need your name, account number, reason, signature, and date), I would have done it right there and then.

Instead, I'm tied in for another year.  And they tried to upsell me while they were at it!  Creepiest company I have ever dealt with in my life.  Beware!!

that's why it's called a CONTRACT and you need to READ anything you sign and agree to.

The cancellation procedure is splled out in the contract..at least MY copy has it.  They have no need OR obligation to explain it to you.

NO, I DON'T work for them...never have.
