Complaint Review: VIZIO

It simply amazes me that so many people are so confused with warranty terms.



It's real simple.



A 1 year warranty means 365 days from date of purchase.

NOT 366 days.



People often think that they are "special" and should be given special consideration.

Newsflash. You are not special. Get over it.



Next time, buy the extended warranty.

Vizio doesn't make any TVs, they are strictly an importer of Chinese junk.  Neither do most of the other low-end manufacturers.  But then, it doesn't even matter, because none of these TV manufacturers sell repair parts -- all of their products are basically disposable.  I think the only companies which manufacture their own TVs are Sony, Samsung, LG, and Panasonic, and I think none of them offer much in the way of parts or repairs.  Everything else is outsourced to Chinese OEMs.

Based on what you are saying there was no False Advertising or RipOff.

Just how long past the expiration should they honor the warranty?  1 Day, 1 Week, 1 Month...exactly as long as you need to make a claim?  Do you get the point?  Your TV went out 1 week AFTER the warranty expired. Your warranty was not for 1 year and 1 week..it was for 1 year.  Yes it sucks that it only lasted the year, but unfortunately that is all Vizio said that they would warranty it for.

Perhaps you can get a second opinion and take it to another TV Repair person who may be able to get a part.

This set is a Vizio, they ( Vizio ) matched the Model number and serial number, and admitted they do outsource some of there work, I do not really care about the warranty part of this mess I just though that most companies would stand behind there products that close to the end of the warranty period. It is the fact that they can not tell me who or where to contact to get the correct part to fix the set . I realize outsourcing has become quite common but the large companies should at least be able to tell someone who to contact for outsourced parts fogive me if I am wrong.

The set I purchased the serial number was run by Vizio and at first they said they would be happy to help, once they checked the issues, Date of purchase, Model number, serial number is when they rfused to help. The set was purchased through an aurthorized Vizio dealer that has checked out as being legit. So it looks like I have been taken, Lesson learned

what reason(s) did they give you for not fixing it free?

You also say it was not made by Vizio and you bought it from a seller on e-bay.

How does this, in any way, make Vizio responsible for its repair.

In fact, even IF it is one of theirs, it's technically out of warranty.

Why would Vizio, itself, be selling Vizio branded sets, that they obviously didn't manufacture?

That really makes no sense and would be of no benefit to them either.

Your complaint is inconsistent, you claim Vizio DIDN'T make the set but you want them to fix it.

Then you say this is false advertising. How so?

Indeed.  Of course Vizio doesn't sell their TVs on eBay.  As was previously stated, that TV is undoubtedly a faked "knock off" of a Vizio.  And, by the way, OP, the word is THEIR, not "there".

There is possibly one of a few things going on.

1. You bought a "real" Vizio TV, but not from an Authorized Reseller.  If this is the case, then that probably makes the Mfg Warranty through Vizio automatically void.    But before you go off with "See Vizio is ripping me off", you will find that this is the same policy with most companies.  Keeping in mind that you are out of warranty anyways.

2. You bought a Counterfeit TV and are expecting Vizio to help you.  Unfortunately that is unrealistic.  It would be no different than you buying a counterfeit pair of Nike's and expecting Nike to give you a real pair.

3. The TV is truly a Vizio TV that they had manufactured and you did buy it from an Authorized Reseller.  But it is discontinued and they no longer are able to get any parts for it.  Unfortunately since it was out of warranty they don't need to cover it, where if it was still under warranty they would possibly have just replaced it.

If it is the first two then your issue is with the seller..if they are even still around.  Although since this happened after the warranty expired not sure if you would have any recourse against them.  If it was the third, then unfortunately since it is out of warranty you are pretty much stuck with what might be a paperweight if you can't get it fixed.

I'd actually wonder what model TV you bought and how much you "saved" buy buying this TV from some random person on the Internet.   Because you can find Vizio TV's in local stores for much less than $800 in within the last year.

I seriously doubt that Vizio was the actual Ebay seller.  It is probably someone hawking knock-off Vizio TV's.  

Is it possible your TV is a fake Vizio? Try to run the serial number with Vizio to see if it's a counterfeit knockoff.

Other than that, most companies outsource manufacturing/assembling to 3rd parties. That's nothing new.
