After using Voiceral since 2006, I signed up for a year in advance Aug. 2008 in order to lock in the same rate. The service really started to deteriorate and around Thanksgiving 2008 pretty much did not work.

would call someone and I could hear them but they couldn't hear me. Someone would call me and again, I could hear them but they could not hear me. It got worse until no phone calls got through.

I called tech support at Voiceral, which consists of one person, the owner Dave Convoy. His response to fix this problem was to reboot the modem, which I had already done and it was still not working. He responded by telling me They/He rebooted my "device" remotely and if that didn't work I should unplug the power from both the Voiceral adapter and my cable modem. Plug back in 10 seconds later.

That fix did not work and when I complained again he asked if I have anything else plugged in. I told him I put a Magic Jack in because I needed a working phone line. He then told me to unplug Magic Jack because that was what was causing the problem. I told him I got the Magic Jack after the problem started but that I would unplug it and see what happens. Nothing happened. Voiceral still was not working.

He suggested I uninstall the Magic Jack software. There is no Magic Jack software.

This was already almost mid Dec. and I was supposed to change phone providers..Get my number ported by Time Warner on Dec. 18,2008. The day of the install it was cancelled because in order to port a number all the info must match up. It did not. My zip code did not match.

The date was changed for the install to Jan. 12, 2008. Once again the info did not match. The zip code was correct but my name did not match. The install was then set for Jan.22, 2008 and a week before that date Time Warner contacted me to tell me that none of the info matched.

At that time I asked for a new number because to set a new appointment to port my old number would have been 3-4 weeks later and I really needed a working phone. Time Warner told me when and if I could get my old number back they would port it to my phone without a charge. Normally $100.00!

During this time of waiting Voiceral blamed me, I (must have crossed some cables) and then blamed Time Warner. He said it was their fault that my phone did not work because they squeeze the broadband or something crazy like that. And that they have done this to him before.

He also claimed that he was never contacted by Time Warner to port the number and that they needed to go to Paetec (servers) to get the porting info as they had the number. I called Paetec and was told they don't port the numbers, that it was Voiceral's responsibility. They called Convoy while I was on the phone and left a message stating just that.

Next he told me that Time Warner could just go to NANPA and take the number. This is actually illegal That is the National Archives for phone numbers and you can't just go and take a number.

In order to port a number it has to remain an active number and while I couldn't call out or receive calls, I could still get voice mail. It remained active into the end of January. When I went to check it on Feb 1,2009, I could not log in. I contacted Voiceral support and was told that... I told them to cancel my account in an e mail dated Dec. 15, 2008 which I did not. In that e mail, I told them I would be returning his broken modem and that his lack of responsiveness necessitated going to a different service.

He told me in an e mail dated Feb. 2, 2009 that my service was canceled Dec. 20, 2008. This was not true. I have the phone logs printed out that show incoming call into Jan., 2008. I have emails from him dated Dec.18,2008 still telling me how to get my number ported.

I have filed a complaint with the FCC and my guess is that he may have heard from them and that is the reason he canceled my account and back dated the cancellation. I have proof he did not cancel when he says and that I did not tell him to cancel. He owes me for 9 months of pre-paid service.

I have filed a charge back with my credit card company. I have read online similar, if not exactly the same abuse, from others re; Voiceral. Do not, ever think about using this voip company. Voiceral is in thirty states, so buyer beware!
