VOIP.com Big promises; ZERO followthrough and NO SERVICE! RIPOFF Boca Raton Florida
The entire Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is headlong on a path to implosion because they make promises, take your money and then provide marginal service and no support!
I left the traditional phone company to take advantage of the features and services alledged to be far better than the land line carriers. My first venture into VOIP was with Vonage. They advertise a flat rate with unlimited service. HOWEVER, in teh fine print they add "PLUS FEES" which caused the bill to creep up and up going from $24.99 per month to nearly $40 per month.
I left Vonage to go to Sun Rocket, a company which went bankrupt 3 months later (July 2007)
VOIP.com was highly recommended as a solution to Sun Rocket. I signed up with them hopeing to have my lines switched before Sun Rocket stopped service. They processed my credit card charge within minutes of me agreeing to transfer my 3 lines to them. About 3 weeks later the phone adapters arrived. Then 2 weeks later the lines were ported over to VOIP. For the last 2 weeks I have been without service and trying to get VOIP to answer my phone calls. In total, I have called 14 times and spend nearly 9 hours on HOLD. CONSISTENTLY, I will be disconnected after holding for 30-40 minutes.
On August 10 I called VOIP's corporate office in Boca Raton, FL and actully got through to Mr. John Allen. I explained my situation to him, gave him my name, phone numbers and account numbers. He said that VOIP had over 8,000 people sign up for their service in the last 48 hours and then asked me to hold while he checked my account... BIG SURPRISE! He hung up on me and has never answered his line again!
At this point, I am disputing the over $600.00 with my credit card company and going back to the real phone company!
