Voip.com Told on phone I would receive refund when cancelling year service. NOW, no refund. Boca Raton Florida
After the demise of SunRocket last summer, I was looking for another provider and found voip.com. They offerred essentially the same product, 1 year unlimited local and long distance for $199.00. OK, I signed up.
60 days later I discover something else (MajicJack) and decide to cancel voip.com. I contact them, go through all the web hoops, and succeed in cancelling my account. I actually talk to someone on the phone who explains that since I am cancelling my 1 year contract, there will be a 39.95 fee. They go on to explain that if I return the equipment withing 14 days, the prorated refund will follow within 45 days, and that if I don't, there may be a 65.00 charge against my $130+ refund. I don't like the 39.95 charge, but I was cancelling a year agreement, so I accepted it.
I sent the equipment back UPS insured and received confirmation that it was delivered within the time specified and waited for my refund.
That was on October 11, 2007. Today, 1/24/2008, I decide to investigate the situation and find out that not only was I lied to on the phone about receiving a refund, but that there are quite a few of us out here in the same rotten trap.
Imagine this, they have charged me extra for cancelling a service I already paid for and cannot use, since I returned the equipment, and are not refunding a penny to boot.
voip.com is not a reputable company. Stay away, stay far away...
