I'm a single mom with three girls. I drove a hooptie for years. My car moaned louder than a when I was in labor. I had to park my car around the block when I picked the girls, they were ashamed our "family" car. So I took my savings and made a down payment on a brand new 2002 turbo s beetle, you know, the limited edition and finaced it.

Not only has my window motor failed 6 times since in the past 11 months, but the engine light is on, the spoiler has needed to be repaired twice and the car has shut down on me. It was one of the worst winter storms of New York and the car shut down in 19 degree weather. That was in January of 2003, I bought the car with only 2 miles on it in May of 2002.

With only 5000 miles my car shut off with my 3 and 8 year daughters and it was pitch black outside. In the dead of night and not the nicest area, we were left to wait for more than hour for a tow truck. The next morning, service pasified with "oh, well it's working now". Finally after my transmission started to give problems I called customer care for them to take back their fiber glass transport and give me back the money that I have worked so hard for and what they did not earn so that I may purchase a real car.

To top it all off there are consumer reports with complaints of some of the same issues and still, VW states that there's nothing wrong with car and it's under warranty.
