Von Shipman Rottweilers FRAUDULENT BREEDER, NEVER DELIVERED PAPERS, EVEN AFTER TWO YEARS, ONLY EXCUSES! Battle Ground Washington

In March of 2012 I contacted Von Shipman Rottweilers while searching for a puppy. We had recently lost a 12 year old male and our other 13 year old was soon to pass. We wanted to have another before we lost him. We made contact via email and was told they had no puppies available just then, but they had several older puppies on site (returns as I would later suspect) but they would have a litter in a few weeks. I asked if we could come down and look at the kennels to see how their operation was run and see how the dogs are taken care of. I wanted to be sure I was purchasing a dog from a reputable breeder. I am a former military working dog handler and I care about the treatment of the dogs.

Upon arrival we were greeted and Kelly and John were very nice to us. They showed us around a bit and things seemed ok from what I was able to see. I wasn't really there to conduct a health inspection, it was really to get an over all feel for the place. I was generally confortable after talking with them and seeing the adult dogs on site.

Our instructions from Kelly, via email, was to either bring or send a check for the deposit. We left a deposit check with them and stayed in contact. My wife was ultimately responsible for selecting our puppy as I had surgery the day before we were to pick our puppy up.  When my wife paid her the balance by check (over $1000) Kelly took the check with no problem and did not say anything at that time. This later came out as a problem (for her) because she vented about it in an email. If it was a problem all she had to do was say something and we could have either rescheduled or figured something else out.  That was the first warning sign from her that something wasn't right.

Several months went by and I never heard from her. I had just had a very tough surgery so I didn't think a whol lot about it. So I emailed her again and I got this reply on JULY 31, 2013.

Hello Don,

Yes, it's been a few months.  Thank you for checking back with me.

I know I said I'd shoot for getting these registrations by the time he was
1 year old.  When you called back in March, we were in the throws of having
parvo in our kennel and trying to bring through as many puppies as we could.
We ended up losing 12 of them.

That said, that was a huge set back for us and we have not quite gotten
back on our feet because of it.  Now we are dealing with the county on kennel
licensing.  All of our time, finances, etc., are tied up in dealing with them
on top of everything else.  Very hard and trying times for us this last
year.

I am behind on all my registrations and trying to get caught up, so it will
be a while longer.  AKC has assured me they will still register all my
litters.  So I ask for your patience a while longer until I can get through
everything.

I am happy to compensate your waiting in the form of a reduced price
Rottie, if in the future you ever want to get another one, for the delay on Eko's
papers.

Hope all is well with him.  Please send pictures and let me know.

Thank you for updating your address with us.
Kind regards,
Kelly Shipman

Now keep in mind that we purchased the dog a YEAR before.  Not wanting to rub salt in a wound I backed off.

Then later in September I contacted her again and she replied that she did not have my papers.

Don,

I am working on them.  It will be a bit longer.  Soon though.

Kind regards,
Kelly Shipman

I replied to her with this:

Kelly,

What is there to work on? You can register a litter online can't you? I've been more than patient and I understand that things "happen". But I held up my end of things and I want you to do the same and you are way overdue. If I need to bring a third party in I will. If there is something you need to tell me then just do so but saying "I am working on them" is not going to do it anymore. I'm an easy guy and very understanding. Just don't lie to me.

I'm not out to trash your name or hurt you. I just want what we agreed to. If I can help you fix something please let me know.

  Thanks,

 Don

And she replied

I know Don, I am sorry I did not come through for you in the time I said.  I have the litter coupons, just need to fill out all the paper work and send it in.  I have been so slammed with so many issues... that just sitting down and getting all this together has taken a back seat...  But the papers are sitting in my to do box, not to worry.

I have some pressing issues to work through before I turn my sights on registrations.  Again, I apologize for the delay.

If ever in the future you want another dog from us, because of the delay, I will give you a nice discount.  And it will come with it's papers.

Hope Eko is doing well.

Kind regards,
Kelly Shipman

SO TWO YEARS is too much to ask for my dogs papers I guess.  I have read other complaints about this kennel. It is a shame. I wonder if the country even renewed their license. I see there is something on the books for an "appeal" in Clark County so maybe they did not. Perhaps Karma finally got them back.

I know you can't please everyone. You can't even please a lot of the people. But come on! TWO YEARS!!?? Something was not right with this litter or it would have been registered and I would have received my papers. Kelly, if you read this, and you probably will, give me my papers, if you can, and I will be happy.  I have nothing else to say about your kennel other than the BAD service you provided me.

REAL BAD!
It is a real good thing I wasn't counting on breeding him to show.

This sounds like my experience

I know they were having problems with the county a while back. But this was long after my experience. It just seems like she gives excuses after excuses.  I think they have issues with the dogs they are breeding and don't want to lie about known genetic problems. This is just my opinion but I base it on by dog's problems and other things I have read about this breeder.

I also base it on the fact she repeatedly lied to me about getting my papers and it seems they have done the same with other people. I offered to help them if they needed something and received no reply. I can only draw one conclusion based on their behavior.

My dog has something wrong with him now. He has a pronounced limp and the vet hasn't given an exact diagnosis yet. He said it could be various things to from cancer to wobblers. We have only had xrays done but an MRI is really required. He doesn't seem to be in any pain at the moment.

I'm not spending thousands to "maybe" help him survive a little while longer. From my experience it is best to treat the symptoms as best as I can, give them a good life as long as they aren't suffering then let them go when it's time. This will probably be his fate. But it will probably be sooner than I would like. My last two rotties, that I purchased while living in Europe, lived to be 11 and 12.

Hello my name is Joe and Ive purchased my dog Diamond aka Drago von shipman. I purchased her back in Feb of 2011 after me and my family purchased our first home. while dealing with kelly she had told me that I should be expecting paper work in the mail to register my puppy. And what do you know after months go by nothing. after a year an a half go by I reached and never got any response back. Just last year I reached out again and she told me that she was dealing with the county about noise complaints and her kennel was in jeporady and also that her husband was going to have surgery. So i bought it and was liike she will come through because I even called AKC and they told me it will only cost 25.00 dollars to register a litter. So i was like thats it than why after all these years still no papers. I dont plan on breeding her or anything like that but I would like the rest of the documents that went with the price I had to pay for my dog.
