I signed up for Vonage's Premium Unlimited Plan in December of 2005. I found the service extremely spotty and it only deteriorated with time. Since it was VOIP over my existing cable modem line, I made sure I went with a "No Annual Contract" plan to avoid cancelation fees.

First, let me start with the service. At the beginning, I was able to hear clearly, but had many dropped calls. I read the service FAQs and tried different things to make it better, but nothing worked.

As time passed, the service got even worse. Incoming callers that were routed to voice mail complained of the poor quality, and the quality of the calls dropped significantly. It was not worth the time and money so I decide to cancel.

To me, "No Annual Contract" means "at will" contracts with no cancelation fees. I was informed by the service representative that there would be a $40 cancelation fee because I canceled within the first year of the contract. Any way you look at that statement, that is an Annual Contract, and this is deceptive advertising.

My view is that the service itself leaves much to be desired, but more importantly their business practices are imoral. I would not recommend the service to anyone.

Thanks...
