Complaint Review: Vonage Phone Company

Vonage Phone Company Fraud & they rip us off when equipment does not work w/our pc as we can not get DSL and I had to the girl @ the time but she said it was okay..says they would not return our money and now they are trying to steal more money from us. never had service with them, would not work.. Lakewood New Jersey

When I called to get this service (Vonage) I was asked if I had internet service and I said yes, but also told the girl (customer serv) that I did not have DSL because she said something about another moden and I kept telling her I do not have DSL and she said that was okay and told me that their equiptment would work with my PC.

I paid $48.48 up front by visa debit card and I was told that my phone service would not be interupted or my internet while waiting on my box from Vonage. Well I got the box from vonage and when I went to connect to my PC it tells me I can not because I do not have DSL because my internet is by dialed up which I told the woman to begin with.

So I call Vonage back and the tech guy tells me to go out side and unhook the phone wires in box outside and rehook them back which we did and my phone service would not work at all, and he also says to call AT&T because who I was with before and my internet is through AT&T also before I changed over to Vonage to get this other DSL adapter, but when I called AT&T they say I can not get DSL as I live so far out in the country and that service does not reach out here and AT&T says vonage should have known that also.

So we call Vonage back and I told them I would be sending the box back and to cancel my service with them. I call AT&T back to have my service back on to switch back to them I was told it would take about 3 weeks and I was without service for that whole time too since the day I got the vonage equiptment as it messed up my whole phone line system and internet service also. I told vonage that I was switching back over to AT&T and vonage says as soon as I get my same number back to call them back so they could give me return number so I could send the box back which I did on the 15th of June 2007. I was told we would have a number sent to our email and I waited and finally I called them back a few days later and I was told by a guy named Ryan that I would not get my refund back because he said we never cancel with them.

We cancel the same day we got the equiptment from vonage. This Ryan guy was very rude and nasty to me and would not let me speak to a manager. My husband calls them back and he was given the run around also.

We had the bank get our $48.48 back from them and now here almost 2 months later we get an email from them (Vonage) saying they are going to process $33.64 from our bank card and we call vonage about this and we were told that our account was still active with them and that it was never cancel which it was the day we got the equiptment the first week of June 2007 and we have had our phone nubmer switched back to us with AT&T on June 15, 2007 so I would like to know how can they say the account is still active with them when our phone lines and service is with AT&T and that vonage sold the number back to them and was reconnected by AT&T on June 15, 2007.

This company is a big rip off and they are stealing money out our bank account and who knows many more people they done this to. We told them (vonage) that we will file a complaint and we will file a police report if any money is taken out of our account. We now have to change our bank accounts because of this problem and we have to check with the bank on Monday 6th of June 2007 to see if money has been taken out from vonage. If this has happen we will file a police report on them for fraud and scamming. I am advising others please do not have phone service with these people as they are crooks and theives. Please if any one else has had any problems with them please let me know. This company needs to be shut down.... Thanks.....
