One of the reasons for going to Vonage was for the International Rates that you can get with Broadband Communications. In a very underhanded way, Vonage raised the International rates and did not inform anyone of the changes. This affected me personally by a jump from .19 cents a minute to .24 to Grenada. It was not a nice surprise to find that out after the fact.

How is it that an Internet only company can't send an E-mail about changes to its service or their rate plan? Maybe my E-mail was busy, that's at least their excuse for when they say they try to call my cell phone.

This company uses any scheme that it can come up with to screw their customers, I have had Vonage for over a year now and I have to say that I have never actually talk to support, that's because I do not have the patience to wait on the phone for more than 15 minuets. Oh, and of course I get the busy cell phone excuse. Wait a minute, I just thought of something... I do get E-mails about my cell phone being busy (even with that pesky call waiting); maybe I should have expected a call about the rate changes. Needless to say I have never had any of my issues resolved.

Another insulting part about Vonage service is that as they make changes to their service they force you to accept the new changes and agreements before they will let you get into your online account. They recently did this with a change the Feds force them to notify us on how 911 calls where handled, they informed us of that but also so they snuck in all of these extra agreements we were forced to accept. If you didn't accept the new terms you could not get into your account.

I am amazed at how well the service works and once you understand how broadband works you too will enjoy this new form of communication.

But I would suggest that you do it with some other company. The way they do business is entirely uncalled for, it is on par with these 3rd rate cell phone companies that try to screw every last cent out of you.

I have Vonage as well. I haven't elected to log into my account yet about the 911 thing, so I can't comment on that, but, I know that there international rates can change on a daily basis, and it does state that in their contract online.
