For the last few months I have found the Vonage service to be useless. The voice quality is terrible. I attempted to follow Vonage's instructions to cancel by calling their customer service number and was put on hold for as long at 45 minutes and finally got frustrated and hung up. I wrote them a letter requesting my account be cancelled, along with emailing a copy of the letter to Vonage. I provided my Vonage account number, signature, address, password, and subsequently forwarded the last three digits of my social security number, date of birth and the last few digits of the credit card number I provided them. They keep sending me boiler plate email messages to call them so they can confirm my identity. To date, Vonage has sent me two email messages requesting I call them. What BS. My position is they have provided a service that is useless and therefore I refuse to pay a cancellation fee as they have breached our contract, so there is no contract. I also wrote to them and instructed them to stop sending me emails and any future emails will be considered SPAM. I cancelled the credit card I provided to them. Trying to shake Vonage is like trying to shake a tick. I had a similar experience with AOL years ago. Anyone considering Vonage should read all the 241 (number to date) similar complaints and my advice is to run. They are hitting a financial wall and in my opinion will not survive, especially when they start treating customers as I have been treated. I would get better voice quality here with two tin cans and a string attached.
