VW of America ripoff Grand Rapids Michigan
I purchased a VW Jetta in 1995. I have had four other VW's which have been excellent automobiles, including one I still have - an 86 convertible Cabriolet.
My VIN # on the Jetta showed that it was assembled in Mexico.
I have had nothing but electrical problems since. First, every interior light went out. I was told by Gezon VW (Grand Rapids, MI) that warranty would cover but, of course, no answer, no results. It was only $160 to repair and I needed it done so I overlooked it.
The car has been maintained perfectly. It now will not shift. There is no way to check transmission fluid.
I was told there is a "code" to check it. WHAT? Another $100? I have been a VW nut since I was a kid. No longer.
Good luck to your cause.

I remember reading something a few years back that when VW started building cars in Mexico, they were having problems with quality control. I think my next car will be a horse.
