We purchased a fishing lodge in Yakutat, Alaska in 1996. We had over $171,000.00 of our own money in the lodge. An S.B.A. loan for $279,000.00 was acquired from The Money Store. We had no problems dealing with The Money Store. Payments were made and everything was fine.

The Money Store sold the mortgage to First Union Bank. First Union Bank sold it to Wachovia Bank and our troubles began.

The year they foreclosed (2001) we had made thirteen payments. We received a certified letter stating that we had not made payments for the year and would be foreclosed on. We sent proof of payments. After that nobody would speak with us. We did continue to receive nasty letters from their attorneys.

In May of 2002 the local police were at our door and we went from being lodge owners to being homeless in a costal rain forest.
