Wal-Mart Customer pays for shopping at Wal-Mart Bentonville, Arkansas
I was recently hired part-time by Wal-Mart as a Cashier earning $ 8.50 per hour with no health/dental/life benefits for one year from my initial hire date unless I am reclassified as a Full-Time employee. It is a common practice of Wal-Mart to hire mostly part-time employees, thereby increasing profits at the expense of their workforce and the communities in which the stores are located. Unfortunately many Wal-Mart associates whether full or part time rely upon taxpayers to assist them in meeting basic needs for health through Medicaid programs, food through Food Stamp Programs, and housing through Federally Subsidized Housing Programs. These programs are taxpayer funded.
I have several years of post-secondary education, certification in Network Administration, and licensure in Broadcast Engineering and registration as a Pharmacy Technician. In a normal economy I would have no difficulty obtaining suitable employment - however in this econlmy I am fortunate to have a job working for Wal-Mart. My story is simple - Consumers have a choice, they can shiop Wal-Mart without considering that the bargain they think they are obtaining at the store is costing them with higher taxes or they can open their eyes to the truth.
I had an opportunity to provide exceptional customer service by advising a customer with eyes open that she did not need to purchase software from Wal-Mart to obtain a quality solution for a word processor on her computer or sell a closed minded individual a well-deserved high priced software solution. As you can imagine, a few fact finding questions would be necessary. The customer approached my line with a few items including Microsoft Office 2007 which she was planning to install on her new computer which she stated she was surprised did not have such software pre-installed and was very pleased to find Office 2007 on sale in our store. She was elderly and may not have known she had options but it was equally possible she saw what she thought was a real bargain. As it turned out she was bargain shopping and commented what savings she was able to realize on a few unrelated products so I decided to stick it to her rather than telling her she could find a comparable software program free on the internet to download known as Open Office... One for the late Mr Sam Walton - just watch the earnings of the company soar on the NYSE ticker WMT... As word gets out hopefully more Wal-Mart employees will stick it to well deserving consumers who are supporting a company that screws associates and the communities where their stores are located every day.
God Bless America and a sincere word of Thanks to the taxpayers (including myself) who make public assistance programs possible for the working poor... I am a single parent (father) with two children... My children receive NO Child Support (and their biological Mother would give up her Parental rights to them if the legal system would allow) free lunches at school, Medicaid and one child is disabled. In addisition, my family of three receives Food Stamps ($76 per month) and at the time of this writing I am still eligible for Medicaid providing me with necessary Rx medication costing more than $700 per month without insurance. If I am dropped from Medicaid as a result of a part-time job (32 hours per week) I will probably have to leave Wal-Mart or hope to receive my Medication through a pharmaceutical assistance program. I work for Wal-Mart, a multi billion dollar corporation and as consumers you are feeding the fire - but if you want to pay higher taxes and are willing to lend a blind eye to the truth, as an employee of the corporation, I am more than happy to be loyal to my employer in the name of putting the screws to you and do so with a smile and a sincere Thank You to you - the customer.

I don't work for WalMart, never have, never will, and we no longer shop there as of this year - 2010.
Although I feel for those that work at WalMart (because working like a horse for min pay is hard), why *oh* why is it that most of the employees that work there, have some kind of medical issue going on at home? It's like the Internet! It seems every other person you speak to, has some kind of medical issue that keeps their butt planted in front of the screen... it's boring and if you saw these people in real life, more than likely, they can run a 50 yards dash without any issues.
When you hear stories like this, it never fails that someone at the employees home or the employee themselves, have a medical issue; knowing good and well, before they started work there, that WalMart offers *high* insurance rates... Hey! At *least* they do offer it! A lot of companies do not. period. It might be high, but no one said you *had* to take it!
Why do they all think they have to get WalMart's health insurance? There are other options... I realize that WalMart "works you to death" but stop being lazy and get out of the box you're in and do some internet searches for cheaper insurance. We all have to do it from time to time, save money... work for a living and save the money we earn; even those that work in La La Land.
Even if you did get put on as a Full Time employee (40 plus hours), like any company, WalMart will keep you below the radar and only give you 39, to keep you from getting whatever it is that *you* want to screw yourself with anyway. Take it as a blessing in disguise! Don't get their insurance; it's minimal with higher rates anyway.
Just because you went to work there, and they think you're stupid because you did, doesn't mean you have to actually *be* stupid....right? --Right? You say you're going for degrees, even have an earned certificate, act like it. Stop being stupid and/or asinine, whatever you want to call it -which ever one you know the definition to.
Just because they offer something does not mean you have to take it, just because you "need it bad". Find something better...a better job, a better coverage, whatever - do something about it besides complaining about how they don't offer it at the price you can afford.
Take that energy and find whatever it is you need.. and then tell the Walton family to stick it up their asses. They have everything else up there - your s**t won't hurt them one bit.
Good Luck with it.

the Election of Scott Brown gives the Senate Republicans the ability to fillibuster ANY of OBama's liberal socalist agendas, and the democrats can do NOTHING about it.
Quit relying on the TAXPAYERS to support you. Get a Second Job if you cannot pay your bills. Have some pride. If you dont want a job, why not go stand at a traffic light after you get off work, get your two children, dress them in rags, and put signs around your neck begging for food.
Better yet, turn your children over to child welfare, and let someone who has pride, and can support their children take your kids from you.
if it were up to me, i would remove your right to vote. Tax users who do not pay any taxes into the system should be denied the right to vote at all.

#24UPDATE EX-employee responds
Thu, December 10, 2009
Though I understand your complaints, I think your logic is a bit flawed. True, Wal-Mart does not offer great benefits for employees. However, as you acknowledged, you are a part-time employee. Most part-time employees (for any company) don't get great benefits. I worked at Wal-Mart while I was in college during the summer. I worked there to raise some extra cash for school. I was, and am, greatful for the opportunity of employment and the $6.25 an hour I made (this was nearly 10 years ago).
As far as your statement about taxpayers having to pay more taxes because we shop at Wal-Mart, I disagree. First off, most people who work at Wal-Mart aren't exactly the most skilled people in the job market. Working for a retail company as a low end employee (ie. not management) might be the only job they can get. If a majority of consumers of Wal-mart stopped shopping there, do you think they'd pay you more benefits?? Of course not, they'd cut back on their number of employees and maintain the "status-quo" of benefits/pay. So what happens to all those unemployeed workers? Simple - at least working for Wal-Mart kept their taxpayer funded benefits to a minimum, but thanks to their recent unemployment, now we can add them to the ever growing unemployment line and/or perhaps welfare too. So shopping at Wal-Mart not only ensures I get good (or at least fair) priced items, but actually DECREASES the amount of taxpayer funding given to those employeed by Wal-Mart.
As far as your analysis on "comparison shopping", every person buys a given product for different reasons. I own Office 2007 as well, not because I like to pay more money, but because it's the same program I use at work. It ensures compatibility with anything I choose to work on at home and guarantees the exact same functionality of the software. Maybe this little old lady doesn't have internet and can't download the free alternatives. Or maybe she owns a business she works at home and Office 2007 is the best soultion for whatever she does or she prefers the online support Office 2007 provides. Heck, she might even be buying it as a gift for someone else. My point is you can't just assume that people are idiots or uniformed because they don't make the same consumer purchase decisions you do. We all have our own reasons for WHY we buy what we buy, and cost isn't always the primary factor.

Deep Thoughts For The BrainLess

hey Mary:
Capitalism puts food on the table, it creates jobs. Somebody has to take a risk, and invest the money in a venture that may not produce fruit.
Most large businesses, like Walmart started out small, and then grew over time. Sam Walton took a big risk when he opened up his first store, because he could have lost his entire investment. (The workers who went to work for him risked nothing, except a job, if his first store would have gone out of business).
Businesses have every right in the world to maximize profits, and the workers are just another resource that the businesses can utilize to help them maximize those profits.
The workers are entitled to compensation for allowing companies to utilize them as resources, but that is all the workers are due, is COMPENSATION for their time.
The government put laws into place that stops the exploitation of the worker with minimum wage laws.
Unions were a good idea back in the day, before the government implemented Minimum wage laws, because it forced the companies to pay a decent wage. Unions are no longer needed any longer, because the worker is now protected.
Unions have become nothing more than Mobs who use threats to force companies to pay them more than they are worth.
If people who only make 8.50 per hour don't like the pay they are getting, they can look for another job. Nobody is forcing them to take a job where there is no health insurance. Nobody is forcing them to take a job where they are only given a maximum of 32 hours a week.
The Lazy OP in this situation, only works 32 hours a week, should go get a second job making another 8.50 per hour 8 hours a week, thereby increasing his income.
The moral of the story is that here in America, if you have a good idea that you think may make you a lot of money, then you have the freedom to put your money to work, trying to make that idea a reality. If you don't have the money to make that idea a reality, then take on a partner who has the money to help you.
In a communist society, the government owns everything, so there is no incentive to take a risk to try to better yourself.

Walmart is not living up to its responsibilities on health care.
Nearly half of Walmarts associates and their families go without the companys health insurance and many are forced to rely on government programs, leaving taxpayers to foot the bill.
Tell the Senate that we all have to take responsibility for health care reformespecially large corporations like Walmart.
Walmart has built its business model on a low wage workforce, with bare-bones, high-deductible health insurance. As the largest private employer in the country, Walmart undercuts responsible employers who do their part and provide adequate health care.
President Obama and the U.S. House of Representatives have championed a bill that makes large companies like Walmart do their part, but provisions of the Senate bill meant to hold corporations accountable actually encourage companies to duck their fair share of the costs of health care reform.
Read the United Food and Commercial Workers and WakeUpWalmart.com special report: Health Care Reform and Walmart: What the Senate Health Care Reform Bill Means to the Countrys Largest Employer.
The bill the Senate is currently considering would:

You are an Idiot.
I have read all your other rantings, and ravings on other sites regarding WalMart, and have noticed 1 thing that you, and the other idiots who hate Walmart have in common.
You don't even know the correct spelling of the name of your company. It Is WALMART, NOT WAL-MART.
btw, I forwarded ALL YOUR POSTINGS TO the HR Department in Benton ville. They have expressed interest in finding your true identity, they don't need disloyal people like you who are trying to discourage shoppers from trading at Walmart.
You have made some very specific complaints about Walmart, and have told us soo much about your background they have said finding out your true identity should be easy. I would get your resume ready if I were You.
Also, how do you know that I don't work for Walmart as a supervisor in Galveston? you never know. How do you know that I am not an employee of Walmart's home office in Benton ville. Hell I might even be one of Sam Walton's sons.
Complaining about your job on a site like this is one thing, but you are badmouthing your employer, and are encouraging shoppers to go else where?
your claims of being able to trace someone through an IP address may be true, if you had access to the RipOff Report Servers, (which I highly doubt) but very few people have static ip addresses. Most of the internet service providers use dynamic ip addresses. They have a tendency to change each time you turn off your computer, and turn it back on.
I am telling you stop biting the hand that feeds you. If you don't like the pay Walmart is paying you, then quit, and go look for a better job.

If you think this store does any good for its communities you are simply put... very wrong. look at it like this... The only reason communities let Wal Mart set up shop in their communities is because if they dont then Wal Mart will just find a spot right outside of city limits where the community has no jurisdiction and kill all the mom and pop shops with no money going into the community. BUT if the town does let wal mart set up... then they will get a few thousand dollars a year from its local wal mart... its a f**king joke and a sick one at best. if youre an assistant manager at wal mart you will work around 60 hours a week and guess what... no overtime... does that sound like its worth it for the 40 or 50,000 dollars a year... i dont think so.

An individual, customer X, does not care for the candor of a Wal-Mart clerk. The initial opinion expressed by the clerk results in customer X threatening to have the clerk fired. The individual has lost all touch with civilized human discussion and perhaps he should consider working at Wal-Mart, but if he considers scrubbing toilets at Burger King beneath him, he would also consider many duties of almost any retail position beneath him. Have you ever worked as a Nurse - customer X? - cleaned up vomit, changed someones soiled brief and bedding, drained a bag of urine, fed someone who was paralyzed, or shown compassion to someone whose family left them alone in a nursing home and seldom visited? What exactly is your occupation customer X and what gives you the right to judge others and tell them to keep their mouth shut? - Here are some facts to consider assuming you can comprehend them:

To those of you who are humans, notice the reaction of one respondant - he is so distraught with an opinion that differs from his, he has resorted to threatening me with my job and telling me to keep my mouth shut. This is the kind of customer no one deserves and fortunately they are the exception rather than the rule. True, I work for Wal-Mart as a Cashier earning $8.50 per hour with no benefits as I am part-time and the company does not provide benefits for their part-time workforce until they have one year of service with the company. One of the ways companies save money is by employing a part-time labor force with no benefits - but this is one of the reasons companies have a high attrition rate.
I am glad to be employed. I am seeking full-time employment at Wal-Mart or elsewhere - but if I remain with Wal-Mart I will actively campaign for positive change to improve working conditions and overall profitability. The public deserves to know about the conditions that exist where they shop - not necessarily so they will shop elsewhere, but so they will become advocates for change. Wal-Mart is a good company but like most there is always room for improvement - and management has an open door policy.
The Bill of Rights, First amendment to the U.S. Constitution provides freedom of speech, press, religion, and petition.
Yes, I serve customers I disagree with - but I try to be fair, professional, and always seek a solution for the common good of the company and the customer. There are often situations when dealing with the public that require tact and diplomacy.
The opinions expressed are not necessarily those of Wal-Mart, or other associates. This is a private expression of my own thoughts concerning employee benefits at Wal-Mart.
If you do not like what you are reading there are many websites on the internet - and I am not looking for a fight - but I will seek to advance and protect what is in the best interest of my family. Happy Holidays.

I still think they should fire you, because all you do is b***h.
I am contacting Walmart's HR Dept in Bentonville, and forwarding your original post. I am sure they will be able to figure out who you are, and I am hopefull you will be relieved of your duties at Walmart.
Maybe Burger King will hire you after Walmart Fires your worthless anus. You can clean out toilets there, and perhaps they will let you take burgers home at the end of the day.
But knowing you, you will feel that burger king should give you benefits because you are DUE THEM......
Of course I shop Walmart, because they know how to keep prices cheap. The offer low wages to people like you, who dont know how to keep their mouth's shut.

Keep your mouth shut, do your job, smile and say thank you...
Don't forget about those who are working for a living when you complete your tax return and send your check to the Internal Revenue Service. I receive an earned income CREDIT and therefore do not pay taxes. Perhaps you would care to know why:
Try supporting a family on $ 14K per year. That is a salary of $ 8.50 per hour at 32 hours per week with no company sponsored benefits.
I earn my living Your are one of the individuals least owed respect by humanity... Take your business and shove it up your anus - but keep shopping Wal-Mart and I will greet you with a smile, take your money (while silently laughing) and Thank You for your business. (Try not to relieve yourself on the floor. Unless you are a service Dog you will not be allowed in the building... )
YOU OWE ME RESPECT AND LIKE IT OR NOT YOU ARE PAYING YOUR DUES!!!
Of course, I could quit - or be fired if you knew my identity - but that wouldn't stop me from continuing to actively seek gainful employment... - Rememver I work for a dime - I am not asking Uncle Sam to pay everything but I do appreciate the help my family and I receive - even though you are resentful for having to pay taxes in support of public assistance programs (because animals like you support enterprises that steal from humanity.) The reality is so simple yet many people fail to see it.... If you support companies that do not pay a living wage and offer benefits to their employees for a reasonable cost - you as a consumer are being handed the bill in the form of higher taxes. Employees of these organizations are people too and must have a place to live, affordable healthcare, food to eat, a home to live in, and in some cases services to assist in the care of dependents (children/adults). You are paying higher taxes to support lower wages, poor or no benefits and low prices...
Please continue to shop at Wal-Mart and not only will I eagerly serve you as an employee, I will also look for inventive ways to cheerfully rake you over the coals. Should I master the latter hopefully I will advance to the ranks of upper-management. After all that is how money is truly made in America - Nevermind any ethical standard that seeks to balance the needs of the workforce with those of the consumer.
As for the elderly lady who purchased Office 2007 - she wanted a program to be pre-packaged with her system - thus a free program from the internet would have probably suited her needs just as well as paying for a Microsoft version. Maybe she will visit our Tire and Lube Express department the next time she drops bythe store. She will never know whether her Oil and Air filters are in need of replacement and whether her tires are really that bald - Sell her some new ones for Winter... and if she is living on Social Security that is just a simple matter of life - she should have been saving more while working. Isn't that the way you see it Mr or Mrs Customer?

You write that many associates rely upon taxpayer funded services such as Medicaid, food stamps, etc...
Whatever the percentage of Wal-Mart associates who rely upon these services may be, how does that compare to associates at the other stores that Wal-Mart competes with? A number of years ago I spent a winter break working at Target as a holiday temporary employee making only a few bucks an hour and certainly didn't get any benefits. In fact, only a few of the people in our department had been working there long enough to qualify for benefits. Do you suppose that there are many associates at K-Mart who rely upon taxpayer funded services such as food stamps or Medicaid?
As for Open Office versus Microsoft Office, I use both. While Open Office does offer many of the same functions as Microsoft Office, I still sometimes prefer to use the latter. I do think that PowerPoint 2007 is better than the OpenOffice equivalent.
I'm not really sure what your complaint is other than the fact that you work at Wal-Mart and do not have a decent benefits package.

Well it is nice to know someone is reading my post...
I do not expect to be paid 50K annually as a Cashier - however I do expect reasonable Medical, Dental Health and Life insurance through the company within 90 days of hire and full-time hours. Since Wal-Mart and several other employers refuse to provide reasonable insurance for their employees, maybe Obama will...
You are paying to house and insure Wal-Mart employees thru your taxes and as the company grows so does your taxation... Keep shopping for low priced goods at Wal-Mart and most of us will continue to smile and Thank You... FYI: Wal-Mart also sells discount caskets... and both of us can agree that Microsoft is a ripoff.... If I would have been on my own time rather than company time, I might have told the elderly lady how to download a free word processing program from the internet. Since I was on the company dime I felt it was appropriate to sell the company goods... however ethical or unethical making the sale at the expense of an uninformed customer may have been. At the time I was working for the company to promote their profit margin - not make friends at the expense of the company in the community.
POORLY INFORMED CUSTOMERS EQUAL PROFIT - WHAT IF YOU LATER FOUND OUT YOU WERE THE UNINFORMED CUSTOMER - AND COULD PROVE THE COMPANY KNEW THE TRUTH ALL ALONG? (Remember the product you purchased was believed by you to be a real bargain and the clerk politely worked you over to separate you from your money all without telling you they were ripping you off...)

What exactly is your complaint? Did you think Wal-Mart was going to pay you $50k a year for being a cashier? I am sure they told you right up front what your pay and benefits would be. You have the option to quit whenever you like. Perhaps your replacement would be more grateful?
If your complaint is about Microsoft vs. Open Office - I do somewhat agree with you. Open Office can do 95% of the things that MS-Office can do. However, in America consumers have a right to make their own purchasing decisions - regardless of how foolish they may appear to the rest of us. No one ripped this ederly lady off...she made a decision to purchase a product that does exactly what it says it will do. She was not coerced, lied to, and she did not purchase a defective product.
