Complaint Review: Wal Mart In MarysvilleOhio

This past Sunday (3-15-09) I went to Wal-mart to buy a pregnancy test.

Upon being handed my receipt and change the female pharmacy employee told me "Be safe(r) next time."

She had absolutely no right to make a comment on my purchase and now that I've sat and thought about the situation I've decided to call corporate and request an apology from this employee.

It doesn't matter how young a customer may appear, you should keep your personal comments to yourself. I'm not a teenager and haven't been for quite some time.

Wal-mart has horrible customer service and I refuse to shop there any longer. They've just lost a VERY DEDICATED 14-year-long Wal-Mart shopper.

The pharmacy employees comment is not the first time I've heard a rude comment directly from an Wal-Mart employee. 6 months ago at the SAME LOCATION (I should have never gone back after the first time but its the only location with food) a young man in the deli called my mother and myself 'fat b*tches' because we were "taking to long to decide what we wanted and approach the counter". We were standing about 8 feet from the sliced meat/cheese cold case looking at the meats trying to decide if she wanted turkey or ham. Then very loudly I hear the young man say to another deli worker "I wish these two fat b*tches would hurry up" I went and requested to speak to the manager on duty and within 2 minutes he was being spoken to by a woman with a walkie talkie on her hip so I'm assuming she had some authority. We were apologized to by the managers but there was no real consequences for the young employee.

My advice is to just take your business elsewhere. There are so many complaints about Wal-Mart, I'm honestly surprised they're still open.

I know it's been awhile since this ordeal happened. I don't even know the results of this. I hope everything has turned out fine for you. If you were innocent I am sad you went through such dark period of your life. I feel the same if you were not. We have all made mistakes and we surly pay for them one way or another. At 23 years old our impulses can be horribly strong and make us do things we would never do if we had thought them through. The ones that were harsh and judging made me sad. Just know that there is not one, no not one that is without sin. I just wanted you to know that was I was fresh outta stones but I have an abundance of Prayer for you and your whole family. You know in your heart what you have to do.

Your story is so filed with holes; I don't understand how do you think?

For one thing how can you forget to pay for merchandise that is stealing? If someone came to your home and took your computer, simply forgot to tell you, and then walk out of your home to go to thier house. What would you think, THIEF, you don't forget something like that. Unless you are a pitiful thief, first time you steal and get caught LOL.

YOU said "Am I wrong for forgetting?" YES you are. I have three small children and am always distracted with them climbing under clothing rakes and hiding from me because it fun to hide from mommy. I have NEVER forgotten to pay for any thing in my shopping cart. You are an adult be responsible for yourself and your actions. If you are in that much of a hurry maybe you should do your shopping at a later time in the day, when you have time. Most Wal-Mart super centers are open 24 hours a day.

YOU said "you have been living with your parent for 23 years" But yet you are married with child. Maybe you could get your own place to live and take care of your family.

YOU said "Being falsely accused is a crime" You were NOT falsely accused because what you did was attempt to steal from Wal-Mart, and you should be punished, so you will stop stealing in your early years. Wal Mart should prosecute you like all criminals should be, we all pay more for merchandise because of thieves like you.

YOU said "I am INNOCENT as innocent can get" NO you are NOT your daughter is because she had to witness her mother taking merchandise without paying for it. If you didn't have your daughter with you the police would have arrested you.

YOU said "In the office, I was treated poorly" well IN WAL-MART EYES they caught you stealing from them. How would you treat a thief who broke into your home to steal from you GOOD? You would treat them same way, in a rude and hostile manner.

YOU said "As I was walking through the doors" That is leaving the store, which equals to taking merchandise from Wal-Mart without paying for them. Some people call that STEALING I don't know about you.

Wal-Mart is in the business of making money. Nobody feels sorry for thieves like you. You need to pay for your merchandise and not steal. You should be ashamed of yourself for what you have done and to think that you are a mother is atrocious.

Wal-Mart should have prosecuted you like all criminals should be. How dare you set a bad example for your children. Shame on you no wonder the law abiding citizens have to pay a higher price for merchandise because people like you choose not to pay.

"Unnecessary prosecution of people"? I know, everyone who shoplifts, they's just stop them at the door, POLITELY ask them to return to the register a SECOND time and ask them to pay for ALL the items they "FORGOT" to pay for, the first time. People will be be making three or four trips back to the registers each time they get caught "forgetting" to pay for something. When's it gonna end? The stores that have the toughest policies have the smallest percentage of loss. We had this discussion before, last year, with the women who proposed the very exact same thing you are proposing. She was up in arms about the way the BX/PX, AAFES prosecuted shoplifters on base. Worked security on base at exchanges years ago and arrested/detained enough shoplifters to know. A "catch and release" program won't work.

It is a problem with the men behind the camera's and the lack of personal assistance you receive when you shop at Wal mart. The whole shopping experience from the 2' x 2' register stands to the lack of customer service is difficult.

When you walk into a Wal with a bag a clerk greets you then checks you right away for a return. They should do the same before you leave.

Example: Hi, Thank you for shopping at Wal Mart! Did you find everything that you needed ? Have a nice day, and put a smile face sticker on your children. If you forget to pay for something then you should be allowed the opportunity to do so.

You mentioned you knowing an employee working there. How convenient the security did not involve him in your defense while the security personnel process you for arrest in their front office.

Security personnel will pray on women and also use racial profiling, moreover the human factors behind the security officer's motives does not take into consideration the human factors of the person being arrested.

Shoot first and ask questions later.

The whole retail system needs not to focus on why merchandise is stolen, but prevent any possibility from it occurring through all means.

Wal mart needs to focus on complete customer attention and stop the unnecessary prosecution of people.

I'll try this again, evidently it didn't take the first time. There are just too many BS holes in your story. "I was in a hugh hurry to get a few things for my children and then rush home". "I was distracted by many friends coming up and talking and saying hi...". IF you had been in such a hurry, you wouldn't have had the time to; #1talk and say hi to all your friends,#2 wandered around walmart picking up and putting down items("they have me on cams putting some items back on the shelves in the cleaning products isle") that's a real common MO #3had the time to call your credit card company and find out how much money you had or didn't have left on your card#4the time to return items you deceided you didn't need right after you had purchased them. Next we get to the camcorder with a video card. You stated you stopped by to get "a few things for my children". I didn't know children needed a camcorder with a video card. You go on to state "...After I called my debit card company I could not pay for all the items that I needed". Then you later state "I even had the money to pay for the things". Nope, I'm not buying it, I've arrested enough women and men too(90% of all shoplifters are women) and most of them HAD the money to purchase the items they get caught trying to steal. Here's a hint, when you talk to your attorney, find out what the total value of the items they are "claiming" you stole and where it was you were stopped by security.

Now, something similar happened to me several years ago at the Walmart here in Green Bay, Wisconsin. I had gone in with a group of people (all related to me), my husband and I went to pay on our lay-a-way and we were all to meet outside the store.

While I stood in line to pay for the lay-a-way, my husband went and got a cart and picked up a few of the things we needed.

The lay-a-way was at the back of the store, we walked down a few isles, grabbed somemore things, then went to the front of the store to check out.

At the time I was about 8 months pregnant with out first child, I went to sit on a bench that was close, waited for my husband and we walked out of the store. Since we were meeting other people outside, we looked for them, didn't see them and decided to put our stuff in the car and go back to the front.

We were waiting on a bench right by the doors when the store security (we didn't know he was security until he told us), we were told there was a problem with our purchse and we had to go into the store.

We were confused and thought he was talking about our Lay-a-way, so we went in. When we got into his office, the rest of our party was there with very confused looks on their faces. We were accused of stealing "several thousand dollars worth of merchandise" from the store. We contested of corse, we had to empty purses and pockets.

They wouldn't let us see the video tape. We all ended up paying fines since we didn't have the money to fight it.

Not that I am glad that this happened to you, but I am glad that I am not alone and it is probably walmart every where. They "cater" to us lower income people by their low prices but their overall customer service/care sucks.
