I started at Wal-Mart in July of 2002. It came time for insurance open-enrollment and I was in the hospital and off work from surgery due to an eptopic pregnancy that ruptured my falopian tube. I had filled out the necessary forms to be added to my husbands insurance, who has also been employed with Wal-mart for 16 years now. I realize I was not covered on his insurance for the eptopic pregnancy, as the insurance would not actually kick in until January.

In May of 2003 I had to go in for another surgery due to scar tissue that had bound my productive system and bowels together. We turned in the insurance claim only to find I had never actually been added to the insurance and the grace period to be added was done past.

In July 2003 I had to have a third surgery where a specialist had to be called in, because the scaring was so bad I could no longer go to the bathroom on my own. I am still being told I have to wait until October 2003 to apply for insurance again and it will not take affect until January 2004.

I personally feel Wal-mart did not want to be responsible for the medical charges due to my eptopic. When I would confront home office, insurance company or personel manager, they all just passed the buck to the next person. I could never get a straight answer from anyone.

I am in the process of finding an attorney now and seeing if I should get the coverage I put in for from January 2003 to present.
