Complaint Review: Wal-mart

My husband too new Dodge Caravan to Wal-mart for an oil change. Not long after leaving Walmart after oil change he noticed a noise in the engine. He then went to a mechanic home to have car checked. He suggested an additive so he drained oil and only 1 and 1/2 quarts of oil drained from van.

MY husband immediately called wal-mart. The tire and lube manager came to friend's home, took pictures and checked van. He replaced oil filter and put new oil in. But the damage was already done to the engine. We were referred to their insurance company, CMI, talked to an adjuster. We could not agree on a solution that met our needs. This van was used for business and without a vehicle, business would be lost.

So we decided that we would rent a vehicle and replace the engine at our expense, hoping that walmart would help resolve the issue in the meantime. We heard nothing since. We then filed claim in small claims court. We had no trouble showing exactly what happened. Of course the walmart manager neglected to let the magistrate know that he stole the oil that was drained from the van, (our main piece of evidence) and showed none of the pictures that he took. The magistrate ended up saying that my husband should have checked oil level to make sure the right amount was put in the van.

I was so incensed by what Wal-mart did to us that I wrote to the State Attorney General's office, reported them to the better business bureau and sent all the information to every officer of the company. Did not receive any help from any of them.

I received a reply from the State Attorney General's Office and the BBB, but not a word from any of Wal-mart's supposedly caring officers. This was an experience I will never repeat at Wal-mart, and anyone using the Tire and Lube Department should be wary. I went to one complaint site and there were over 7,000 complaints against Wal-mart, many about Tire and Lube. Thank you,
