Wal-Mart Tire Center does poor work.
This is in response to another report regarding the rip-off someone had with a Wal-Mart Tire service center.
I too had a very similar experience with Wal-Mart where several lug nuts were not tightend on my car. The front end made considerable noise and it kept getting worse. Because of advanced miles on the car I assumed that the problem was due to a worn CV joint. I had a shop look at it, and they agreed it was CV joints on BOTH axles.
Since I was away from home and thought I could make it back I took my car home to find a local shop to fix it.
As soon as my home town mechanic heard the noise he asked me if I had any tire work done recently. Instantly I realized the problem and was furious. We checked all the lug nuts and sure enough, several were loose and one or two were missing!
In defense for the Wal-Mart location in Springfield, MO, they did check the rims for damage, and sent me to another shop where the studs and missing lug nuts were replaced. (I also had this shop verify the rims were ok.) Wal-Mart paid the bill, (not reimbursed me, but paid the bill outright. Several thousand miles later I have had no further problems, (even with the supposed bad CV joints).
Whenever I leave my car in the Wal-Mart shop, I always go back and verify they tightend the oil pan nut, and anything else they would have messed with, as well as (now) the lug nuts. After oil changes I have found oil splattered over my engine, washer fluid not filled when it should have been, carpets not vacuumed, etc. When I bring these items to their attention they usually correct the problem and give me a discount on my next service.
A shop should not operate this way, but at least they are willing to make ammends in Springfield MO.
