I am a military member who purchased a vehicle from Waldorf Ford in July of 2009.  When this purchase took place, I traded my vehicle for theirs and requested that the plate from my old vehicle be transferred to my new vehicle.  Being military, my plates are out-of-state plates.  I knew this would be an issue and having done the process myself many times before, I told them that I would take care of the plate transfer.  They told me that this was not an option and that they were required by law to do the plate transfer.  I finally folded due to them telling me it was the law.

They told me that they did not know how much out of state transfer was going to cost so they added $500 to the cost of the vehicle for the tag fee and said I would receive a refund of the difference when it was complete.  Fair enough.

Here is the problem now:  It is now mid October and I still do not have the transfer complete nor have I received any refund.  In addition the following has happend

- my temp tags expired and it took six phone calls to Waldorf Ford to get a new temp tag

- I have had to make three trips to Waldorf Ford to provide them out of state forms and such for them to complete the tag transfer

- I am being told that it costs $211 to transfer my tag when by simply going to the out of state website, it costs $61.00 to do this

- I have attempted to contact the General Manager at Waldorf Ford three times to discuss this issue and have had zero calls returned.

I could have completed this task myself in July for $61.00.  Instead, Waldorf Ford is charging me over $200 and it has already been three months since they supposedly started this.  Additionally, they are holding onto my remaining money!!

I understand paying the title and registration fee and even a small fee for them completing this task, but the task has to be completed - Maybe $100.  From the beginning, I have had to do everything anyway so why should I pay any more than the fees to the state for which my vehicle is being registered?  And, the vehicle is still not registered and the manager will not return my calls!!
