Let me give you a little background information before I tell you what's going on behind the scenes with one of America's biggest retailers and the amoral slime that they contract with. Basically, in addition to their retail outlets, Walgreens also has a home care/home infusion service for terminally ill and chronically ill patients.

What most people don't know is that they contract with a company called Bottom Line Systems (BLS) to do some sidework for them. BLS mainly collects any payment shortages from insurance companies on behalf of Walgreens. They also does their collections work and review Walgreens financial records for overpayments (from insurance companies or patients) and adjusts them off their books.

In other words, instead of doing to honorable (and legal) thing by refunding overpayments to the patients, BLS is basically zeroing them out on Walgreens' books and keeping a "finder's fee" percentage of that amount. Now, I've heard of companies doing some slimy things before, but keeping money rightfully owed to terminally and chronically ill patients is certainly a new low. Now, you might ask yourself how I came across this information. Well, the easy answer to that question is that I used to work for one of these companies and I was fired for refusing to zero out these numbers and hide these patient overpayments. I'm currently researching how to do some "whistleblowing", but in the meantime, please don't give Walgreens a single dime of your money.
