In October the TLE (Tire Lube Express) at Wal-Mart in my town changed my oil. Unknown to me at this time, they put the wrong oil filter in my car. The filter must have been forced on somehow because it held for quite a while. Then one day while I was driving it let go and ALL the oil in my care blew out.

After towing my car to a mechanic, completly baffled at what had happened, I found that the oil filter in my car was too small. I was charged by that mechanic for his labor and assistance. Paid for it out of my pocket.

A ticking noise that hadn't been present before was now coming from my engine...

Once I found out that my oil had been changed by incompitent morons, I went to Wal-mart to tell them what had been discovered.

I then took my car to a dealership in town to have it hooked up to a diognostic machiene... I found that clicking was the least of my problems. I had $3600 worth of damage on my engine due to it starving for oil!

All of this paperwork was eventually faxed to Wal-mart's insurance company (The manager of TLE is slow!!) A claim was filed. it took them almost a month to even get any answers out of them.

Because I have an older car, I got screwed. My car only books at $1825 so that is all the company will give me. They are also paying for the diognostic and the mechanic, but that's it! They won't give me anymore. So even though my only mistake was letting them change my oil, just trying to maintnace my car properly, I get screwed. I can't even by the exact same car with what they're giving me. Believe me, I tried. I had to buy a car that is ten years older than the one I owned, that ran wonderfully and was completely dependable I might add, and now I have to hope I didn't get ripped off again.

I don't recomend letting Wal-mart even rotate your tires. That's how incompetent they are. Besides, Wal-Mart's "inexpensive" tires is a ripoff! They contract the tire companys to make the tires they want them... CHEAP!

That's my story, I learned a lot from it and I hope that it might help someone else too. All I can say is know your oil filter size, know as much as you can about your car, and double check EVERYTHING. I went to Wal-mart because it's SOOO convienent, so inexpensive.... Yeah Right!

For people that have been ripedoff by Wal-Mart in a similar nature as I have, or even if you were hurt due to neglegence, or even an employer that got screwed over then here's the number for their insurance. It might be a doube screw over, but who knows maybe you'll be lucky and be fully compensated.

1-800-527-0566 There's an automated system that will tell you what to do next. Screw having a claim number, now you can make them listen!
