One night at work my eyeglasses broke. The plastic frames were beyond repair, so I went to Walmart Vision Center in Wyomissing, PA to get new glasses. I figured they would be affordable because I was on a tight budget and I really needed new glasses. In the meantime I wore my old prescription to work and school.

I underwent an eye exam and picked out frames. The employees didn't seem very interested when I told them that my prescription probably hadn't changed because I wasn't having any vision problems.

The doctors measured me for glasses and wrote down my prescription but they were rude. They let me sit in the waiting room for about 45 minutes after my exam, and the whole experience took almost 2 hours.

When I got my glasses, they didn't fit. The frames didn't fit my head, they pinched behind my ears, and they were bent, as if someone sat on them before they mailed them to me. It took over a week to get them.

Also, the lenses with my "new" prescription were really disorienting. I started getting a headache after a few minutes of wearing them and I knew something was really wrong.

I went back to the vision center and they said they couldn't help me. The eye care specialists said that there was nothing they could do about them being the wrong prescription or the frames being the wrong size. One pair of glasses that cost me $211.00 were worse than useless. The doctor literally shrugged and walked away.

I tried to approach the other employee who had examined my eyes, and she walked away when she saw me coming. I went home broke, with a splitting headache, an ill fitting pair of glasses, and ready to cry.

When I got home I found I had gotten a discount coupon from America's Best in the mail and as soon as I saved up enough money I went there and got new glasses. The glasses that I got at America's Best were the same prescription as the glasses that broke.

It's highly unlikely that my prescription changed and then changed back over the course of a few months, so Walmart gave me the wrong prescription, charged me too much for it, and then refused to admit the error and help me.

I had exactly the same problem at the location in Temple,Pa. My glasses that I paid an additional over $200 out of pocket for plus what they charged my insurance company were and are totally and completely useless to me. They did NOT even correct 1/4 of my stigmatism and probably did more damage using the wrong prescription on my eyes. I recently had another eye exam at a different PROFESSIONAL eye doctor who explained everything to me and also checked the prescription in my glasses from Walmart. He instantly confirmed that they are nowhere near the prescription that I needed for my lenses and explained everything I had questions about. I will receive my new glasses with the correct prescription in just a few days, because no matter what Walmart says or does....YOU DO NOT GET YOUR GLASSES THE SAME DAY BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT IS OVER!!! Walmart is horrible, unprofessional, and has untrained people "trying" to give you an eye exam when they know absolutely nothing about what they are doing. They are only there to rip you off,and thats the bottom line.
