After seeing an advertisment for a Hewlett-Packard computer for $495 at a local WalMart, we decided to purchase one. We searched the store over and couldn't find it. The sale lasted all week, so we continually checked back daily-yet, no computer. But they always had plenty of the more expensive PC's-ones that cost from $600-$1200.

On the last day of the sale, we went again at 11:30pm asked if we could get a raincheck-they said "No, because we aren't getting any of those in." We asked if they ever had any to begin with, because we had been in everyday since the beginning of the sale and had never seen any on the shelves. The man told us that the store had never received any of the PC's on sale to begin with-but that they did have some other ones if we wanted to buy one that night.

A woman who had been listening at the other counter suddenly came towards us and firmly (with slight attitude) stated that the sale ad PC's sold out within two minutes of the sale. I told her that was amazing-since the man waiting on us said that the store had never received any of them to begin with. She glared at him and said, "He doesn't know what he's talking about to begin with." We again asked about the raincheck so that we could get the one that was advertised. She looked at her watch, smiled, and said "I'm sorry, it's 12:01. That sale is over, now." Then she stormed off.

I honestly think that WalMart used that PC ad to get people hyped up to buy a PC-but when you get there, you don't want to be disappointed so you end up purchasing a more expensive one-putting more money in WalMart's pocket.
