We spent a week in Disney in August 2011. This place was extremely dissapointing. They have the place set up and designed for the crowds of people visiting to do nothing but wait. Wait to get into your place, onto a ride, get something to eat, even wait to use the stinkin bathroom. The loud and obnoxious trams that take you through the parking lot are a disgrace. You cannot hear the people talking and letting you know your location over the loud noise coming from a diesel or gas engine?? I mean, come on . They could be running all these machines with electric which is generated from solar. The amount of people at this place daily, with rates in excess of 125.00 per person should easily handle the right kind of technology for transportation.
The lines were short and still too much for my kids who are 5 and 7. That is what this place is supposed to be for and my kids did not even care if they saw anything cause they had to wait so darn long. They would wait in line to get an autograph from one of their favorite characters, only to be told the character was leaving and they would not getbook signed. This is pathetic. They should have a better system with the prices that are paid. We went to a hot dog place to get a hot dog and were rudely told that they only had plain. No chili , no cheese, no nothing. How can this be ? We are paying top dollar for the most magical place on earth and there is no magic in a plain old hot dog with some rude girl who was not even trained for proper service.
What in the heck are they teaching these people when they get a job here. The service is almost like the same poor "I don't care" attitude you get from employees at Wal Mart, Target, or some other chain. I would not pay those prices ever again. I think the people who are continuing to contribute are making a bad situation worse. This place has really gone down hill.
While walking through Downtown Disney on painted concrete, my daughter slipped and fell. Nobody was there or even close by to complain to about the dangerous area. Please , glossy painted concrete where tons of people walk every day and when it rains almost every night in August.
The parade on main street was cool, but again, They had no smooth way of gettting people to stay off to the side to watch. Mostly just rude people waving you off the rode like we are all a bunch of cattle on a ranch. That is basically how my family and I felt the whole time. If you went there with your family, and really think about it, you were treated like cattle too.
Some rude people who are pushy and have no manners made up the majorityu of guests that were in the theme park. Most speaking another language other than english. Some even sitting on their lazy butts with there feet sprawled out in the area where guests were supposed to stand and watch the parade.
As far as getting to and from these parks via ferry , monorail, or Bus the place just plain sucks. If you are trying to attract people from all over the world and from other countries with no organised way of handling it then shame on you. Figure it out cause I am sure Walt Disney himself is looking down now in pure dissgust!!

Nothing is fun in Walt Disney World. I would bet Walt Disney himself would be ashamed. Its the rude jerk a*holes who put a damper on things when you're trying to enjoy your vacation.

I certainly agree that some parents aren't necessarily thinking their trip through when planning.
I've seen people bring children who can't be more than 5 or 6 weeks old the The World. I can't grasp how you can afford and plan a Disney vacation but no setup some sort of child care in your absence. Even if you are staying on-site/off-site, there is highly recommended in-room child care available, so that you can bring your child on your trip without taking them to the hot Floridian parks all day.

Regarding strollers, as a whole, I don't have a problem with them. Even with fans, mist, and air conditioned attractions; the sun, heat, and miles of walking will wear down even the heartiest Disney fanatic, kids especially. What I have a problem with is the parents piloting them, who are not watching where they are going. Don't get it twisted, Disney World is all about the details. Looking up, down, and around in every direction, but if you're speed walking (read: sprinting) to Toy Story Mania at rope drop or to meet Woody in Frontierland, then you need to pay attention to where you are going, as to not put your children or other guests in danger.

Alot of people have asked this question babies are to young to remember. But why do parents always insist in bringing babies leave them with a relative. Let me say it again they will "NEVER" remember their first trip to disney world & they can't ride anything. The parents are just being "Stubborn".

The answer is that this complaint isn't worth caring about. Plus the author seems to have a problem when it comes to certain people who speak different languages
Need I remind you that not everyone grew up in an English-speaking country
This report is a waste of time. There are other people who have suffered much worse issues than this that we need to give greater consideration to.
This useless report needs to go in the trash can where it rightfully belongs.

You traveled to The World from Schwenksville, PA, which, as you know, is a mighty journey of over 1,000 miles, one-way. You undoubtedly spent a fairly large amount of money on your trip, probably several thousand dollars, when you figure travel, food, boarding, park tickets, souvenirs, and the like. If you were spending thousands of dollars on something, whether its a trip, a tv, or a car; wouldn't you do some research in what you're spending your money on? There are tons of real-life and online resources for maximizing Disney trips.
You can get the 2012 edition of The Unofficial Guide Walt Disney World book, by Bob Sehlinger for under $15 shipped to your door from Amazon.
There are website and forums like disboards.com, wdwinfo.com, allears.net and touringplans.com which offer great information for novices, experts, or people planning trips.
Please take personal responsibility and don't bash an amazing place like Walt Disney World if you couldn't be bothered to take a couple hours to plan your trip properly. I'm aware that my tips, tricks, and links don't do you very much good at this point in time, but I hope this will be helpful to people planning trips in the future.

My description was not exaggerated. Whatever strategies you have to try and beat the rest of the cattle are fine for you . I will visit somewhere else for the magic and I do not wish to spend time researching and studying up on how to plan to see disney. All my experiences there are facts and happened exactly how I explained. The hot dog place was enough for me to save the agony of going to any of those other posh places that you mentioned. You can spend your money there!
I am done and stand firm with Walt Disney looking down in Disgust!

Hi, I have been an annual passholder with Walt Disney World since 2009, since then Ive been to The World at least 50 times. Everything youve described is grossly exaggerated or misconstrued. Based on all of your complaints, Ill assume they are all directed at the Magic Kingdom. There are between 40 and 50 million visitors to the 47 square mile Walt Disney World each year.
Not including restaurants, there are 14 very very large restrooms inside the Magic Kingdom, of which Ive never had to wait in line for. The park lot trams are actually propane powered pollute much less than their gas or diesel counterparts and regardless of if I am in the front, middle, or rear, Ive never had any issues hearing the tram PA system. To avoid heat problems for the cast members working outdoor character greetings are required to take breaks every once in a while, but then they come right back.
Disney has some of the best themed queues in the game, splash mountain tells the story of the attraction you are about to ride. Space Mountain has an interactive video game that you can play in line while you wait. The Haunted Mansion has a new interactive queue which you and play music and little mini games. Definitely a blast compared to the endless stainless-steel switchbacks at most other theme parks.
Every time Ive been to Caseys Corner in the Magic Kingdom, chilli cheese dogs have always been on the menu. (Confirmed on allears.net/menu/men_cas.htm ). You said we are paying top dollar when referring to a more affordable counter service restaurant, when referring to Caseys. If you really want a top dollar experience in The World, go to a table service restaurant, like Citricos (Grand Floridian), Narcoossee's (Grand Floridian), or Victoria & Albert's (Grand Floridian), not a hot dog joint.
Im sorry about your daughter's accident and I hope that she is okay. Disney makes themselves overly available when it comes to customer service. In Downtown Disney, service desks are available in Disney's Pin Traders, Goofy's Candy Company, Team Mickey, and The World of Disney store.

During the parades, Disney has, for lack of a better term, perfected parade viewing. They have the walkways divided. One side if youd like to view and one side if youd like to keep walking onwards to a new destination. People stake out a good parade spot 60-90 minutes in advance. You cant get to the 8:15p parade at 8:14p and expect to find a prime seat. It sounds like youre just mad that those people sitting on their "lazy butts" got their first.
Disney has an excellent inter-park travel network of buses, monorails, ferries, and boats setup. Once you are anywhere on Disney property, you can go anywhere else on Disney property for FREE. Youre at Wilderness Lodge and want to go do Downtown Disney? NO PROBLEM! Youre at Epcot and want to go to Animal Kingdom? NO PROBLEM. Of course, like any mode of transportation, it gets busy sometimes, but for Disneys FREE transportation system to successfully transport between 30,000 and 100,000 guests per day between the Magic Kingdom, their resorts and the Ticket and Transportation Center, thats pretty amazing.
General Tips to have an awesome trip:
Arrive early: The single most important thing you can do to minimize your time in lines is arrive at a theme park at least 30-45 minutes prior to opening so that you are among the first to enter the empty park. Then visit the attractions that have the worst lines first. If you move quickly, you will have experienced most key attractions before the masses arrive. Youll get more done between opening and noon than the whole rest of the day.
When parks are crowded, use FASTPASS to avoid waiting in line. Go shopping, eat, or see high-capacity, less popular attractions (which should have short waits) while you are waiting for your FASTPASS return window to begin.
Disney restaurants are popular, and there are times of year when it is nearly impossible to eat in a table service restaurant without a reservation. Include dining in your planning process, and note that dining (both quick service and table service) will be less chaotic if you eat during off-hours (before 11:30 a.m. or mid-afternoon).
I'm sorry that you had such a terrible time in the most magical place on Earth, and I hope it didn't completely turn you off to Disney World. Have a magical day.
