Walter Mortgage Co Jim Walter Homes Beware, those who had Jim Walter Homes build you a home and/or financed your mortgage thru Walter Mortgage. We are finding out years later that they put a lien on our house for double what they mortgaged for us. Birmingham Alabama
We are in the process of refing our home and are finding out some very disturbing facts about Walter Mortgage Co.
Our buying and building process was a rocky one so we shouldn't have been surprised when we found out that Walter Mortgage didn't put both of our names on the title. We also just found out that there is lien on our property for over 200K, put there by Walter Mortgage, when we only financed 119K with them.
The saga is ongoing and hopefully it can be sorted out without too many hoops to jump thru.
I wanted to add my issues to the long list I found here at Ripoff Report and forwarn people that there are still lingering issues with a company that rightfully went out of business but did not die!

I have encountered the same problem with a lien exceeding the purchaced price. I was wondering if that issue was resolved, if so, what steps did you take in resolving the matter?
