My wife deposited $160.00 CASH into her account at the drive-up window at our new Chase Bank (formerly WAMU). I confirmed the depost on-line that Friday. Monday, however, I noticed the bank had reversed the deposit for no apparent reason. My wife called the bank. They could offer no explanation. She visited the bank during the next week, spent hours on the phone and at the bank, even the manager could find no explanation. They started an investigation. Still no resolution. It is now three weeks later, and the account is now overdrawn due to the deposit reversal. I call this robbery, not service. We have no options. The bank will not give our money back, nor credit overdrafts. They cannot figure out what happened. We will now have to close our account and go elsewhere, while they keep our money.

Was this Drive-Up a Drive-Up ATM or a Drive-Up Teller(actual person)?
Do you still have your receipt?

Your chances of getting the money back gets better with the more proof you have. If you went to the ATM and don't have the receipt you are going to have problems. If you went to the Drive-Up Teller and have the receipt your chances are good(if not excellent).

Since the local branch did not help you, you need to contact the Office of the Comptroller of Currency. This is the government agency that handles issues between banks and consumers.

take your deposit receipt to the branch the depopsit was made at and talk with the manager. They should be able to find the transaction going into your account and then explain what happened to it.
