We Purchased an Extended Warranty from Warranty Activation Headquarters which cost $1,870.00 for Bumper to Bumper Coverage when we took the Car in for a Repair, we were told by the Mechanic @ the Dealership that Mepco Insurance said it wasn't covered under the Warranty @ refused to pay for it., that's the Company we make our Payments to every Month in the amount $140.00

we then called the Company we purchased the Warranty from and that's" Warranty Activation Headquarters" which said the same thing "It's not Covered" but that's not what the Contract say's! The Horn Does not work, the Switch that makes the Horn blow is located where the Air-Bag is behind the Pad in the Steering Wheel Column (Town Car)

These People are Rip Off's, They're Liers, they are not to be Trusted they will say, write, or do anything to make a Sale, it doesn't matter., if you need a Warranty for your Vehicle look elsewhere, we all have to work to hard for our Money to have People with no Morals or Values ripping Poor People OFF! for their gain! I know that somewhere down the Road they'll get it all back, "You Reap What You Sow"

I just received a solicitation from the subject Warranty Activation Headquarters, which led me to this Rip-Off Report. Very interesting! I now know that Warranty Activation Headquarters is a reseller of policies, just like the new and used car dealers. Historically, car dealers got half the total cost of the warranty for selling it. Lots of money for the car dealer for some fast talking, only half left for the actual warrantor. These extended warranty companies particularly like selling a warranty on a car with existing factory warranty, as this gives them additional lead time to disappear before anyone knows they're even gone. Most are sort of like a Ponzi scheme. As soon as incoming claims (the few they might actually pay) exceed new incoming policy premiums, they're gone. Remember, they got only half of the usually financed premium to begin with.
.
Of course the finance company has nothing to do with the warranty. They just bought the paper on the payments. They're out of the picture except in the issue of collecting the payments. Remember-the car dealer or reseller got ALL the aggregate amount of the premiums in one lump sum.
.
I find an interesting paradox in the first post: In reality the horns are functioning on this Lincoln.. What's not working is the horn's pad activated steering wheel switch/button.
.
Say WHAT? The horns ARE functioning? Are we to assume they expect the driver to crawl under the hood and connect a jumper from the battery to the horn when necessary? This is absolutely ludicrous, but surely sounds like extended warranty and car dealer logic.
.
IMHO it would be appropriate to paint car dealers and extended warranty companies and resellers with the same brush.
.
An additional quote from a subsequent entry: MEPCO just collects payments. Hey! Where's that brush again. Another recipient of the brush stroke.

this consumer is confused

#6Consumer Suggestion

Thu, October 25, 2007

I dont work for this company. I work for a different warranty company and feel like i need to interject something because this person is confused about the difference in the companies that they are working with. You are RIGHT that warranty activation headquarters is a bad company. They ARE a rip off. every warranty company in missouri is a bad company. For some reason they all have the same lack of character and discretion and it seems as though the people working there are full of dishonesty.

However, I MUST interject that MEPCO has nothing to do with the warranty company. Here's how it works: THe warranty is purchased by the consumer through a sales division (that's warranty activation headquarters) and there are many out there, but only a few good ones. WHen they set up that policy, they PAY FOR THE POLICY through a finance company, which is MEPCO.

All MEPCO does is finance the payments for the warranty, they are not a claims department. They do not decide what is or is not covered. They have nothing to do with which kind of coverage someone has, or whether or not something is covered. Mepco is a billing company. That's all.

Just wanted to correct that which doesn't excuse these warranty companies who have hundreds of complaints on the BBB. But the coverage which is bad is from teh warranty company, not the finance company. MEPCO just collects payments.

I want everyone who reads this to know that "Warranty Activation Headquarters" sent the Check just as they said they would for the Repair, & upon receiving the Check would I in turn remove their Name from "RIPOFF REPORT" I said yes I would, ...

They said it is better to show how the business to care of the problem, better for the business and the consumer! I have to Respect that if that's their Policy, I'm Grateful their is a Website where you can let other People know when you feel you're being treated unfairly and Voice Opinions, i just want everyone to know that Warranty Activation Headquarters did what they said they would do & I thank them & respect RIP-OFF REPORT.COM

I Jessyelena am the Person who submitted the Complaint, I have since been contacted by one of their Representatives from Warranty Activation Headquarters, a Young Man named Mike Simms, he's in the process of resolving this matter, I don't know who's idea it was, but I can say it was a good one, if this had been done from the beginning I would not have had to Post this complaint, I told Mr.Simms, that when this matter was resolved I would take this Complaint OFF, my word is my Bond, that's exactly what I will do, when everything is taken care of, a lot of People in Business could learn something from Mike Simms, when you do the Right Thing good things happen for you & your Business, People tell other People., when you do the Wrong Thing, People tell other People that too., so here's a Thumbs up to you Mike., one Day you'll have your own Business & I know you'll do well., as long as you do the Right Thing.

we fight for our customers

Warranty Activation Headquarter's is an agency that sells warranties from many different providers. We do not decide what repairs get paid for.

We are in the process of fighting on behalf of this customer. The problem is that the contract states the horns are covered.

In reality the horns are functioning on this Lincoln. What's not working is the horn's pad activated steering wheel switch/button. This is not part of her coverage.

Her vehicle is a 1997 and she was sold simply the best available for an eight year old car. Legally we are correct, the horn switch is not covered; it also happens to be attached to the airbag itself, making it a very expensive repair.

Out of our strive to provide the best customer service, we are looking at all the possibilities including potentially covering this part ourselves even though we are not the warranty company.

If the customer's vehicle gets repaired she has agreed to pull this complaint from this website. If you have any questions please call Warranty Activation HQ at 1-800-376-5553.
