I received a call from this number 1-800-111-1136. It's a phoney number. I checked. The guy on the other end said he was calling to tell me the warranty on my GM car was soon to expire, and would I like to buy the extended warranty. This outfit claimed to be holding my warranty and were not affiliated with General Motors. I told him that my warranty was ready to expire (where HE got the information I don't know. I asked him what other information he had in his hand, and that's where I tripped him up.

My warranty is 3 years or 60,000 kilometres and he kept insisting it was 3 years or 36,000 miles. I informed him that Canada has been on the metric system for 30 plus years, and we don't use miles. He kept insisting that it was 36,000 miles and it became obvious he, like most Americans, doesn't A. know where Canada is, and B.
has never heard of the metric system, even though the U.S. is the ONLY country in the world stubbornly clinging to the Imperial system.

The end came when he asked me if my car was leased. When I said yes, he quickly cleared his throat and said: "We don't extend leases on leased vehicles.
The conversation ended when I told him I would check with my GM dealer and General Motors Canada. I did, and GM tells me that they don't farm out their warranties to anyone.

I post this as a warning to other GM vehicle owners. Don't be fooled by these scam artists. If you get a call, do what I do. Report it to the fraud squad of your local police department.
