Washington Mutual - Chase They have raised the credit card rates to the default varaible rate of 31.99% without cause and claim there are major delinquencies on my TRANSUNION CREDIT REPORT when there are in fact no delinquencies on the report Pleasanton, California Internet
I feel it really stinks that the Washingtom Mutual / Chase Bank can without cause or reason other than their own reasoning raise the APR of the credit card holders at will. Particularly after they just got a piece of the bailout action from capital hill. When you try to get the reason for the increase, you just get the same old, "You knew that we could raise it at any time and were informed of that!", "If you didn't opt out and close the account, this is your new rate!".
Doesn't this seem unreasonable and who would the average person contact in the government to stop these predatory practices in the banking indusrty, which we as tax payers have a vested interest in at this time.
The customer service reps and supervisors can't do anything but you read from a computer screen and they sound like robots sayin the same thing over and over again when you try pin them down on a specific reason for the increase. Then they will come up with some reason that your credit report has delinquencies that don't exist.
The entire communication system in our country and the banks is broken, it seems that the government wants to throw money at the problem rather than let the companies fail the same as we would if we did the things they did to get themselves in the spot they are in now. Someone help the average person not the FAT CATS who really don't care and are probably laughing all the way to the bank everyday.
Are you listening Barack Obama and capital hill, do the job we are paying you to do, don't just become another of the corrupt FAT CATS that you seem to cater to.

Yes...this is a horrible situation...but ultimately the American voters are responsible for this situation. Remember Reagan's promise to "get the government off our backs?" Well, now you are seeing the reality of this...It was all about getting the government of the backs of big corporations like credit card companies. Government involvement/intervention is not always a bad thing...but propagandists on the Right have created the perception that it's always bad and this is not so....
Once upon a time we had "usury" laws....not anymore....banks are free to raise your rates at any time for any reason....American voters have been voting in people like Reagan, Bush I and II and corporate Democrats like Bill Clinton...they made their bed and now must lie in it. Obama can't clean this mess up overnight.
