We can't let them keep doing this. Washington Mutual charges fees for everything. They will not reverse any fees and they don't care what we think. Everybody mis-times deposits and checks, but a $20 fee for a $20 atm withdrawal when the account's already overdrawn. Screw them. Please don't bank with Washington Mutual.

The free checking is hardly free. Try $140 in the first month. What person transitions to a new bank without any problems. Like I just showed up out of nowhere without minor timing errors. They are making too much money on the overdrafts and they don't think we can do anything to stop them. Believe me, I plan to get every penny back. Spread the word!

Yes I agree that one should not write checks against unavailable funds. I also agree that most who verbalize the over draft fees should take responsibility for their actions. However Washington Mutual needs to take responsibility for their poor (UNDERSTATEMENT) customer service. Upstanding people don't complain? Well it is time we do.

My father was given overdraft protection, which was a line of credit that charged interest at the rate of 17.999%(APR). I know my father would never have agreed to it if the service had been fully or properly explained to him. In his case a far more equitable solution would have been overdraft protection tied to his savings with a flat $20 fee per transaction.

Last year (2002) this would have cost him $40 not $140+. Neither overdraft was intentional. The first was because he forgot to enter a check in the register causing the first overdraft. The second overdraft occurred because he had not yet become aware that WaMu was automatically withdrawing $50 from the account for the first. Oh, his savings? About $23,000 not counting three large CDs. Is this any way to treat a senior citizen?

If you don't have the money then don't spend what you don't have.

I have been banking with Washigton Mutual for over 5 years and have not had one problem with them. I have never paid a fee or anyting else. Also I have never used the overdraft or wrote checks I coundn't cover.

It seems like most people who complain write bad checks are always late on bills, or withdraw funds they don't have. People act as though the overdraft is their personal money and cry when they are charged for using it. If you don't have the money then don't spend what you don't have.

You never hear good upstanding people complain. It is always people whgo have financial woes and then inturn blame the institution they are dealing with. It's the companies fault the check bounced, it's the companies fault your car got repoed and you were 3 months late. People, these companies owe you nothing.

You don't think these companies know about the type of customer you are? You demand respect yet you do nothing to deserve it, your late and overdrawn. It's not the banks fault. Companies must make money or they would not exist.

There is no Sara Fox at Washington Mutual. And, if there was, her e-mail address would not be Sara Fox@WAMU.COM. It looks to me like another consumer just wanted to give her opinion of people wanting something for nothing.

i was a wamu customer, and paid my mortgage monthly that included a tax escrow account during thenyear of 2001 wamu debited the tax money from my escrow account and did not pay my taxes when i tried to have this problem rectifies wamu could not find the money just got lost in thei accounting in the meantime my taxes are not paid, i have a tax warrant with penalties spending numerous hours every day on the phone and e-mails with various customer reps finally i realized that this was more of a habit not a mistake of wamu, 100's of customers in my small town of upstate new york were experiencing the same problem i went on the news for a week, and finally wamu, after 6 months of not being able to find my money then sent the escrow funds to me since then i have been on the news, and have filed a class action against this mortgage giant for breaking multiple federal laws you can [express interest via this report.]

My husband an I bought a house throught this company, 6 months later we had decided to refinance. The morgage never showed up on hes credit report, so the company we were going to refinace with contacted them and asked for a VOM it took the 2 weeks to send back a letter saying that we would have to pay 25.00 just to get a paper saying we hada morgage with them. and an extra 5.00 for 3-5 day service. well let me just say in has been 7 days and still nothing. they even charged us 8.00 just to pay our morgage over the phone. get real are the really that hard up for money. they also said they report to all 4 major credit bureas to inform them of new morgages and so on, then why have we had this morgage for over 6 months and still nothing there and we had 2 of the 4 major credit bureau and nothing on it about any morgage. then they still had the nerve to charge us. cant wait to get away for this company!!!!

Washington Mutual holds my home loan and has done so for the last five years. I have to say that they are by far, the worst company I have ever had the displeasure of working with. They seem to be a huge company where no one knows what any one else is doing. "Sara" says that "they do a good job (at customer service). I believe that comment to be literally insane. WaMu has stolen money from me, filed false claims, been rude (unimaginably), and have done every thing in their power to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. I would advise ANYONE to save yourself the headache and never do business with them at all possible. They do not care one iota about doing the right thing, and only interested in making money.

Ok budday! First of all, why should we have to pay for your debits, when you know you dont have money in your account dont go to the store and purchace things, because we are a bank, not a money tree. We are here to provide you with a service, and we do a good job at it. So next time you make a purchance of anykind, make sure you have the cash to follow. We do you a favor by paying the company the money you didnt have in your account to begain with, so yeah. Of course there will be a fee for us having to pay your dept and keep you out of collections, and, or, having bounced checks all over the place... thankyou...wamu employee! seattle, wa.
