I called Washington Mutual becasue I mailed some checks out to pay my regular bills that I pay every month. This time, aparantly my checks went through a day early and I became subjected to multiple overdraft fees. (A victim is more like it). 5 to be exact at $22.00/each. I talked with 4 supervisros named Shaun, Sarah, Hazel and Mariam @ ext 6501. Each on of these supervisors hung up on me after repeatedly stating that there was no reasonable resolution. I even offered to agree to meet them half way. Washington Mutual, in my opinion, stole $110.00 dollars from me and I was willing to let them keep half of it just to feel there was a reasonable solution on both sides. They were unwilling and relentless in there lack of desire or ablilty to offer any assistance. I would like to remind you that these checks cleared on hrs before my direct depsit entered the account. I had no malicious intent on overdrafting my account.

So who says they posted a day early?

So your checks posted a day early? By whose schedule, yours? For one, when you mail out a check you can only guess when the checks might arrive. If you don't have the funds, DON'T MAIL THEM! Sounds to me like you were floating checks and it bit you in the a*s. Hope you learned your lesson. Checks post in record time these days.

Check 21 For those of you who "float" checks

Touched on this before. For those of you who "float" checks, the float time is now much shorter then it use to be with the new Check 21 system. Deposited a customer's check at my bank at 9am, on my way to work. It hit his account by 6pm that same day.

He had the money so everything was fine, but it took only 9 HOURS for his check to hit his bank. CR estimates something like 7 MILLION MORE NSF checks and $140 MILLION MORE in NSF FEES in the first year with Check 21. So, if the money's not in the bank, don't write the checks. Spare us the victim part.
