WAYNE COUNTY FRIEND OF THE COURT CORRUPTION, RIPOFF My ex sent the child support check, they have record of it, but won't send it to me. Detroit Michigan
It seems that more and more people are having problems with Wayne county--FOC. for example, getting your child support money from them. And most importantly, to get your answers for the problems that they have caused. That is like pulling teeth, and I am very frustrated and disgusted.
I have full custody of our child from my ex-husband. We filed for divorce in Feb-2001 and finalized in Sept-2001. I never started receiving child support for 1 1/2 year, and now they come sparatically. I have been to FOC (IN PERSON) multiple times to get them to adjust the arrearages that my ex still owes for back child support, but I keep getting excuse after excuse.
The last 2 times have been aweful. Dec 2002 went there to see why the warrent for arrest was not in affect and why in the hell have the arrearages not been up to date even after it was given to a "supervisor". Oh, they said that my file was in "LIMBO" prior to 12/02. and now it be corrected in 3 mo. They said they've sent multiple bills and letters and called to let us know about the debt.
Since 12/02 I have filed bankruptcy and I still cannot pursue other avenues to collect his back support and the property settlement because FOC still has not corrected their problems and has failed to make the appropriate adjustments in my case, I get punished
Now another problem: there has been a child support check from my ex-husband that he sent in 4-03. Wayne county FOC reports (on their automated system) they received it, but will not dispurse it to me. It is June now. Where is this money and why can't they tell me who has it? Who is holding the money, do they hold on to it to draw intrest from everyones money? Is someone in the system cashing others check? Who's pocket is getting lined with gold?
Many of us are forced to deal with this. I hope things change, many people are very unhappy with this system. I don't think things are any different now that the State of Michigan took over.

I would like to add to the comments, I have not received child support since 8/03, an rearrages from back since 9/02. My ex made over 127,000 last year and I made less than 30,000. I paid for everything and never disruppted his visitation an stuggle to buy milk, just keeping health care and day care paid.
But he has taken vacations, new vehicles, partys and diamons for his girlfriens. I have been called to FOC 3 times and they pass the buck, say there is cliche's in the system. Well 10.00 to park each visit for the "cliches" and 1/2 a days pay. I bet the get profit cut backs from parking fees. Sounds funny but all these wasted trips to hear them "pass the buck" Only county that we can not call and talk to anyone.
Instead of putting all this money into billboards, patting themselves on the back, they should put phones in FOC and stop making people waste there time coming there for no reason.

I know that well over $4000.00 ( due to a child support increase two years ago that took a year to process in their system ) was credited to my account in late March and it has not yet been disbursed. I have sent 15 E-Mails, phone calls, faxes, letters, I have contacted TV stations, and I have requested assistance from lawyers who would not touch the case, to Lansing and Detroit, to the State to The Friend Of the Court and to individuals who are suppose to be supervisors, requesting answers or at least a return phone call. And the fact is that they are collecting interest on this money.
I have needless to say, had no response and I don't even expect one any more.
This has to be illegal, but there is nothing we can do because they are the courts and the legal system of the State of Michigan.
I also have seen proof of regular weekly checks being sent from my son's fathers employer, with his account number on them, that have being sent out for 10 years without any breaks or shortages, on a weekly regular basis, that I have not received weekly or regularly or on time for evn one of those 10 years. I thought The State of Michigan would take over and make a difference, but that seems to be hardly the truth.
If there is a solution I would like to be contacted.
