We entered into a contractual obligation with Wayne DeKler of Custom Woodworking in March of 2004. The total cost of our reconstruction was in excess of $169,000.00. Mr. DeKler would act as the general contractor and supply the sub-contractors.

As time past we saw less and less of Mr. DeKler and his sub-contractors. We later learned Mr. DeKler had begun another construction job and failed to pay the sub-contractors who worked on our home.

During construction Mr. DeKler's plumber, Joseph V. D'Errico, severely damaged several support beams in our basement while installing plumbing for our heating system and two custom built vanities. Mr. De'Kler's electrician, Ray Welsh of All American Electric, abandon the site leaving unconnected lighting and at least twenty areas where exposed lives wires hang, accessible to four small children and other family members.

During a building inspection it was determined not only did Joseph D'Errico damage the basement support beams by cutting into the beam in excess of the permissible amount under building code but, Mr. DeKler used the wrong size support beams in the attic. The second floor ceiling is in danger of collapsing.
Mr. DeKler received code violations for the Fair Lawn Building Department.

After receiving the building code violations Mr. DeKler left the site with our money (all but approximately $2,000.00 was paid through as per our contract)without completing many phases of construction or making any of the necessary repairs. To date the estimated cost to repair the damage and complete the project is in excess of $50,000.00.
