My wife received a call from Waypoint Vacation offering us a free vacation voucher to Cancun or Orlando for 3 days if we agree to attend a 45 minute presentation at their office. We were skeptical at first because the representative was not able to give us any details about the presentation, but after calling us 3 times we finally agreed to attend the presentation and were reassured that we are not obligated to make any purchases and would receive the free vacation voucher at the end of the presentation.


When we arrived for the presentation, we were greeted by a salesperson who was very friendly at first and asked us a lot of questions about our dream vacations.


The presentations started 30 minute late and lasted over 1 hour and by the time it was finally over, we had to leave because we had other arrangements.  Once the presentation was over, our sales person's demeanor changed and was focused only on selling us a $21,000 membership using high pressure sales tactics and would not take no for an answer. Despite the fact that we were pressed for time, we still allowed the salesperson to provide us with their payment options and we even agreed to return within a few days allowing us to think it over and make an informed decision. From here on, things went from bad to worse. Our salesperson called for help and one of the managers joined our table. We were very patient and explained to the manager that we really had to leave. We were hoping the manager would understand, but instead ignored our concerns as well and applied even more pressure trying to get a commitment from us on the spot. We felt very uncomfortable having to make a hasty decision on a $21,000 membership, especially after finding out that Waypoint Vacation was only operating since 2014 and they were not able to tell us how many members they actually had not to mention the fact that they were not willing to show us the real "travel savings" on their website until we first pay for the membership and go through an "orientation" session days later. They actually expected us to hand over $21,000 or at least a deposit of several thousand dollars using our credit card based on some screen slides that were shown to us during the presentation. But what really made them lose any credibility they still had with my wife and I was when the manager literally slashed the membership price in half hoping to get a commitment from us despite all the concerns that we raised. I have never seen a legitimate product price reduced in half within minutes. We were also told that they offer a $24,000 membership that we could purchase anytime, but they were clearly only interested in selling us their "first visit" membership for $21,000, which was then reduced to $10,000 once we raised some serious concerns about their company and membership.

We obviously refused to purchase the membership and were finally escorted out of the presentation room after receiving the vacation voucher. We felt completely humiliated. When we left the building, we spotted another couple in the parking lot that attended the presentation with us and asked them about their experience. As it turns out, they went through a similar experience and also refused to join.  I would give Waypoint Vacation a 0 star rating, but in all fairness we did receive the free vacation voucher that was promised to us. However, we were initially told on the phone that we could use the vacation voucher anytime we choose, but once we read the small print on the voucher we realized that there are so many restrictions redeeming the voucher that we were never going to use the voucher. It was defiently not worth having to go through such a humiliating high pressure sales presentation. People should be given reasonable time to make an informed decision and return another day if they are still interested, especially when being asked to purchase a lifetime membership costing $21,000. When leaving the presentation we could actually hear one of the other sales people or managers shout - "get them out of here" refering to other couples that attended the presentation. The sales staff should learn to treat their guests with respect and actually listen to customer's concerns and address them before asking for $21,000 or even $10,000.

Waypoint should do the right thing

Hello, after having read all the comments about Waypoint Cooperative Vacation Ltd. I have one simple comment:

-When a judge rules against them and requests them to return payment to a defendant, then that's what they should do, right?

-They are now offering a new company to hold the shares which is not part of the contract, and since we do not want to do that, according to the law, they need to return our money.

-We do not want to go into every single way that we were ripped off, but the plain truth is: The law is the law. 

-Just uphold the CPA that states:  You do not have to pay for goods or services you did not request: We did not request 17,332  shares with WPT @$145 per year.  Our contract states that our shares were held with CWCF @$55 per year. Hence, we want our money back. We have one year to withdraw from the contract...again, that's the law!

Come on, Waypoint, do the right thing and let this end here!

WayPoint is surprised and disappointed that a guest posted on this website without first contacting us. WayPoint is a 100% member owned co-operative. It is part of our core values that every guest is treated in a polite and respectful manner. As this post is anonymous, we have no way of following this up with the actual sales rep who talked to this guest.

The post acknowledges that the guest received everything that they were promised when they were invited to attend our presentation. I believe that their sole complaint is that they were treated in a disrespectful fashion by one of our sales reps.

The facts are not disputed:

1. When guests are invited, they are told that the presentation may last up to 90 minutes in length.

2. There was no pressure or obligation to purchase anything

3. They received the exact free travel voucher which was promised.

4. They voluntarily agreed to stay beyond the presentation to discuss the product options with the sales rep.

5.  They were offered an alternative vacation package which provided for one-half of the vacation benefits at a lower price. There was no price reduction for the package that was originally offered.

It is the policy of WayPoint to immediately address any complaints or comments arising from either our sales presentation or our products. WayPoint is not aware of any complaints received by either telephone or email from the guest who posted here.

As the poster feels that they were treated in a discourteous manner, we would be pleased to provide an apology and to repreimand any sales rep who breached out policies regarding the treatment of our guests. However, we are not able to do this with an anonymous post.
