Sales rep for Weatherguard Exteriors Inc. named Donald who is also the general manager, comes to our home for a Tex Cote sales presentation, he seems like a genuine person at first and goes through his 1-2 hour presentation. The product seems great and now comes the pushy sales tactics, he writes down 2 prices on a piece of paper one is a TODAY ONLY price the other is a price good for the NEXT 45 DAYS $15,3000. My wife is very hesitant/nervous and says she would like to think about it but we would want the lower price of $8,500 (THE TODAY ONLY PRICE) is what we negotiated after Donald does the "oh let me call my boss Dennis (owners husband)" routine to see if we can sell the product this low. The owner says oh yes we can give them this great deal but we'll have to use a special commercial code for the computer for it to take such a low price..yadda yadda yadda Well my wife is still very hesitant & nervous, but Donald says "don't worry honey federal law gives you 3 days to cancel any in home solicitation agreement". So to get the TODAY ONLY price of $8,500 we sign the agreement, Donald leaves and me and my wife discuss it and decide our house really doesn't need to be painted at this time because it's built in 2005 and that $8,500 is just to much to take from our savings in this economy. So I call Donald to inform him of the cancelation saying we want to wait until our home needs to be painted, this is only 2 hours after he leaves by the way. Well here's where this guy goes into this unprofessional & unethical tirade on the phone. Calling me & my wife "untrustworthy", "liars", "not people of our word", etc... and then he tells my wife something to the effect that "Honey, I'm a multi-millionare and could buy/blow you out of the water anytime I wanted to" which my wife took as some sort of morbid threat and she got extremely upset, so needless to say I sent an email to the company and Dennis who is the owners Husband returns my call and he's just as bad as Donald with even more unprofessional comments and condones all Donalds behavior and says everything Donald said to me and my wife is "hear say". Are you kidding me? "hear say" Well I lost my cool at this point to say the least. To have a salesman represent your company who belittles people for not being millionaires 1, calls them liars or people not of their words 2, and actually makes threating comments 3, and your response is "Well that's hear say" is so UNethical & UNprofessional on so many levels it's just ridiculous. How these people sleep at night is beyond me. But I truly believe what goes around comes around in this world and I can assure you that I'm not the only person this has happened to with this company, and most likely not the last. So to anyone thinking about doing business with this company? RUN don't WALK away. If you like the Tex Cote product that much, just find another distributor to apply it, because the product did seem really good and came with a lifetime warranty. But imagine trying to get them to honor the lifetime warranty that comes with this product. Hey the product you applied to my home is pealing can you come out and fix it? No Sir that's "Hear Say" there's actuall no lifetime warranty would probably be the response you received.

P.S. on a side not when Dennis called me the following day to confirm the order had been canceled and make his additional unprofessional comments to try and belittle me and my wife further. He actually had the nerve to ask me to pay the postage to mail a color chart that Donald left here back to him :-) I said well you can have Donald pick it up because he works in this area, Dennis's response was "will you pay for his gas" again this sounds so ridiculous, the owners Husband wants me to pay for the multi-millionaire's GM/Salesmans gas to pick up a color chart from MY HOME, which he left here. Well I declined to pay for the salesman gas or postage and Dennis's response was something to the effect of "well then we'll just keep the $50 gas card you were supposed to receive for listening to the presentation, if you want the gas card you'll send us the color chart"

I could go on and on about how unprofessional & unethical these two men (Donald & Dennis) were to me & my wife but I don't have all night. I have filed a complaint on this site as well as the BBB and I'm far from done.

#4UPDATE Employee

Weatherguard Exteriors, Inc. - Heidi Dale, is a very ethical business owner-general contractor. I have worked for Ms. Dale for five years and she is a very kind, caring and honest person, with very high ethical business values. Also are the people that are working for her and Weatherguard Exteriors, Inc.

Our company goes above and beyond for our customers, potential customers, business contacts and employees. You could not ask for a better place to work and a more honest employer. So when I read this report I was mortified that Mr. Misner had misrepresented our company-Heidi, Dennis and Donald so unfairly.

Mr. Harry Misner set up an appointment for our free no obligation inspection and presentation of our products. We were running an ad in the Palm Beach Post for a free $50.00 gas card for allowing us to show them our free no obligation presentation. The Misner's agreed to this appointment.

Donald showed the Misner's our presentation, and they agreed to purchase the deal, and we were able to give him a very good price, because we were going to use the home as a model home in the area. Mr. Misner stated that he could also use the home to show because he is in the real estate business and would send us referrals. He also stated he would advertise us on his web site to his potential customers. After Donald wrote up the contract and the Misner's signed, Donald
left our color wheel with them to look over the colors in the day light to make sure the colors they picked were good for them.

The Misner's called Donald about an hour later and informed Donald that they were canceling the contract per the "Buyer's right to purchase to Cancel. Mr. Misner then asked Donald if he could work for us, with the advertising on his real estate business website. Donald stated "no", that was not a decision what he could make at this time. Mr. Misner also faxed and e-mailed the Cancelation to our office, and it was cancelled, and no monies on the credit card were processed for the deposit.

Donald asked for the color wheel to be returned and Heidi sent the Misner's the $50.00 gas card for allowing us to show our presentation to them and a pre-paid postage box to return the color wheel to us. We have done no work for the Misner's, so I do not understand how they can make comments on our work, product and on the Textured Coating warranty, when they have not even purchased the product or seen the warranty.

I do not understand why they are reporting Weatherguard Exteriors, Inc. to this site, and I believe their allegations to be totally unfair and with out justification. The only thing we did was go out and to show how our product could protect and improve their home. What it cost Weatherguard Exteriors, Inc. was one color wheel, the postage to get it back (to date has not been returned), a $50.00 gas card and being put on this site unfairly.

Yours truly,
Weatherguard Exteriors, Inc.

Response to Harry Misner and his wife. Report #352198

#4REBUTTAL Owner of company

Fri, August 08, 2008

I am appalled with this situation. This is because as always, in good faith, my installation representative followed up on an appointment on time with this couple to which they agreed and set. The man, Harry Misner recieved a free no obligation inspection. I have an unflawed reputation in our community as a stand up general contractor, and I run everything I do perfectly. Please note the following:
The first to present his case seems right, until another comes forward and questions him. All man's ways seem innocent to him. People can rationalize anything if they have no standards for judging right from wrong. And finally, there are at least two basic principles for making sound decisions: 1. Get the facts before answering. 2. Make sure you hear both sides of the story before judging.
My company and its respresentatives have an impeccable record with our customers and contacts. I might also mention that I called Mrs. Heather Misner because she wanted to speak with the owner. She did not answer nor return my phone call following my message to her. The couple also recieved a free gas card from my company, held on to our fandek of our manufacturer's colors, which I personally paid for. I even sent them a pre-postage paid return box for the return of this item, which to date I have not recieved. My company has done no work for this couple. It seems to me, they are uncommonly unreasonable beyond what I have ever experienced as a contractor since I have gone above and beyond for this couple concerning an issue that doesn't have any validity whatsoever nor do I even comprehend.

Called Tex Cote to inform them of this distributors practices

#4Author of original report

Thu, July 17, 2008

I've called the Tex Cote corporate office to inform them of this distributors practices after Dennis over at Weatherguard refused to give me the phone number. So I spoke with Keith Herrsek at Tex Cote and he was passing on the information the the district sales manager by the name of Chuck Coker, so we'll see what transpires from this.
