I will keep this short. I attempted to use Webcapades' service using my Paypal debit card. This was the first and only time I've used this card, aside from an ATM withdrawal. I attempted to purchase their service twice thinking that Paypal would move the money from my account into the debit and pay for the service. Thankfully, that did not happen.

After the transaction did not work I realized that Paypal has a safeguard against this kind of purchasing. Afterwards I discovered ripoffreport.com and learned how poorly run and shady this company is, so I forgot about them.

Three days later I get a call from Paypal's fraud service asking me about some charges appearing on my account. It seems someone had my personal information and was trying to use the debit card. The Paypal account had not been compromised, but the card number was out. Fortunately Paypal has the aforementioned policy and since no money was in my Paypal account the theif made off with nothing.

I did however have a record of the attempted purchases, on of them being a major computer chain. I called them and they provided me with the shipping information on the fraudulent orders. This included a name address, and phone number...all of which are no doubt false. I suspect the fraud wanted to make a pick up on an empty floor of an office or something.

So, I took this information, sent it to Paypal and included it in the affidavit I completed. I also looked up where the shipping address is located.... Coincidentally the address is only 50 miles from Webcapades.

I cannot say 100% for sure if Webcapades or one of their employees are responsible, but the cards are stacked heavily against them.
