Complaint Review: WebHostingTalk

WebHostingTalk WHT, Webhostingtalk, Web Hosting Talk Asks for Personal Information then will call you a liar. BEWARE! WHT is fraud! Internet

I registered a WHT account a few months ago to advertise my business GoKVM. Immediately it seemed well, some potential buyers ordering from the advertisements I posted on the Web Hosting Offers section of the site.

That is till January 23, 2015. I get an email telling me I have an Alert/Infraction due to not having my whois info posted. I'm told to provide it, which is okay except it means any spammer can look up my info if this is disabled.

Despite that I register for the WHT helpdesk, and provide the info, however immediately I get asked if I have any relation to a different company that from what I could see on craigslist is in the same city (Houston).

I provide truthful answers to "Mike" but his tone starts changing drastically. I feel like an inmate in a jail.

Then I get asked for more and more information. Such as "Have you ever created another account" "When you bought GoKVM did you get this or that". It just feels awkward having to give some forum mod so much information; I mean he asks for information that I don't even have to give Stripe, 2Checkout, or PayPal.

In the end the mod made me feel uncomfortable, told me I am a liar, and from there I was banned. You can see the entire chat on this link to PasteBin. http://pastebin.com/TEesaVEK

I don't know who trains these moderators, but they are like dogs, rude and unprofessional.

DO NOT register for WHT. They are just phishing for your information, and if someone in the same city happens to work in Web Design or Web Hosting they'll start wanting your ID or more information. That's what fraudulent phishing sites do. Again avoid WebHostingTalk.

God Bless,
