I was contacted by sales reps of the Weekly Homebuyers List, who promised to grow my business by providing an updated list of new homeowners in my area. Presumably, these new homebuyers had no purchasing loyalties and I could be the first to earn their business. I was sold on the concept and after repeated conversations with Lisa, I agreed to sign up for 12 months.

My first list was inaccurate. These supposed "new homeowners" furnished by the Weekly Homebuyers List had actually been in their home for years and one had lived in their home for 28 years!

Much of my mail was returned. One month, nearly 15 percent had bad addresses.

Unsatisfied with the service, I stopped paying towards my 12- month contract.

I got friendly phone call reminders, followed by harassing messages, sometimes five a day, demanding payment to the Weekly Homebuyers List. When I explained that the service did not deliver what was promised, I was told, "You signed up for it, you need to man up and meet your obligations. If you can't pay your business expenses, you don't deserve to be in business." I was absolutely shocked by this horrid response. This was much unlike the friendly sales and customer service reps that I dealt with when I first signed up.

I later got a lawsuit summons and am fighting it vigorously for false advertising.

I also found out that the Weekly Homebuyers List uses fake testimonials on their webpage and they have a Twitter account by the same deceptive sales rep - Lisa - that spams people on Twitter without providing any valuable information except directing followers to the same deceptive website with bogus references.

I also learned that they once had a call center in Binghamton New York that was shut down for employee grievances and a gross lack of retention for selling such dubious data.

If you get offered new homeowner data from this company, you should run like the wind.
