Wells Fargo ATM machine eats card on holiday weekend, ding on my credit report Austin Texas
Sunday May 29, 2005 9:45PM
This evening I drove to a Wells Fargo branch ATM machine. I inserted my ATM card and it was pulled in, as usual. Advertisements kept playing on the screen. Hitting the cancel button did nothing.
I immediately called the Wells Fargo hotline and spoke to a representative named Paul. He said the card must be replaced, which may take up to 10 business days.
When this bank issues a replacement ATM/debit card, it is reported to the credit bureaus as a lost or stolen card. This lowers the cardholder's credit score!
The representative insisted that it does not happen, but I have a copy of my credit report showing the last time this happened with a Wells Fargo ATM machine.
Don't let this happen to you! Don't ruin your credit score over a malfunctioning ATM!

You could do this.... Go to the BRANCH

Go to the BRANCH that the ATM is at and see if you can get the card back. But, If you already called for a replacement card, the OLD one WILL NOT WORK. Plus you should find out why the card was retained.
